I'm not so sure about Rainbow, but damn, her "comeback" was one hell of a story.

They nominated Demi last year (Pop Vocal Album) so I'm expecting something. :selena:

Demi was a deserved nom tho

I'm not talking about songs, sis. I just used that to make a point. Best Original Song is the weirdest category. But, for example, they didn't nominate See You Again and it was a monster hit.

If the Oscars were like the Grammys, the nominations would be something like: Best Picture - Transformers, Annabelle, one movie with The Rock and Zac Efron, Fast & Furious, and The Emoji Movie. Where's the credibility?

Lets not pretend the Oscars aren't a popularity contest either. There's countless independent films that are better or on par with major studio films and only get minimally noticed by the academy and somewhat by the Spirit Awards.

Annabelle: Creation doesn't fit with those other movies you mentioned because it's horror and the Oscars are unjustifiable prejudice against horror and its box office  gross is on par with its critical reception.

Of course, sis. But the Oscars have a better ratio at nominating good sh-t than the Grammys. I'm not saying the Oscars are perfect, but they always try to do their best.

That's why winning an Oscar > winning a Grammy (in terms of credibility). I mean, 1989 talking AOTY over To Pimp a Butterfly is like the perfect example.

Always trying their best? But known for their favoritism and lack of racial diversity especially recently. :oprah:

Crash winning best picture over Brokeback Mountain is only one of the perfect examples of the academy's lack of credibility.

Sis, we're not talking about particular moments. I said it's not perfect.

The Academy was criticized because of the lack of diversity and they're doing everything to fix that. After the Kendrick/Beyoncé fiasco, the Grammys were criticized too and the president said they don't give a f-ck. https://www.etalk.ca/News/2017/February/Recording-Academy-president-on-Grammys-Beyonce-Ade

So yeah, the Oscars are better and they are more respected.

People of color may not always win at the Grammys but they don't have a problem getting nominated in the 1st place unlike the Oscars; especially in major categories. Maybe the president could said a better statement but racial criticism has never been as big and constant an issue at The Grammys as much it has been at The Oscars.

The Oscars are more respected because people helm the work put into making a film over the work put into making an album.

Maybe critics and the movie industry deem Oscars with more respect but the GP probably cares more about Grammys and Emmys since both music and TV is more accessible and constant to them to. People are fans of actors/directors but don't nearly stan for them as much as they do their favorite artists; I'm sure they care more about their Fav artists/albums/songs winning Grammys than their favorite actors/directors/films winning an oscar.

Let's discuss this somewhere else. I think we're way off topic now. fdg

I am huge movie and music fan. But I would say OSCARS is way better than GRAMMYS. They at least try to recognize small independent film and also big films. Do you remember when Birdman won the best picture? Spotlight? No country for old man? Slumdog Millionaire? American Beauty? 12 years of a slave?

Let's just don't pretend they are bluntly nominates white people. That's not true. Yes in 2015-2016 had diversity issues but they overcame! Do you remember in 2014, 12 years a slave won the best picture? And the previous year Beasts of the Southern Wild's only 9 years old Quvenzhané Wallis nominated for Best Actress! Ang Lee won best director. What about THE ARTIST? A black and white silent film won best picture and best actor!

When an Asian or Brown people won GRAMMYS? Ummm? But in every year thousands of movies around the globe recognize by the academy and they nominate.
