As you certainly know, many characters die, no one is really safe, which makes the psychology of watching it fascinating. There are no real "This character is obviously the main character, so they are safe~" at all. There is also some very moving stuff, you really start to feel out the characters, so their deaths are generally pretty shocking and upsetting when they happen. For me, the fully fleshed out lore (moreso in the books than in the show) and the interconnected aspect of the characters plots is what is interesting to me. It's not imo some like, cautionary tale or allegory for a larger moral point. The show could literally end with "and there was no point to this at all!" and it would still be very entertaining television Yeah, I couldn't really summarise it any better than this. The world is so, so, so grand and has so much depth and is so well thought out. The characters and their arcs, development and motivations are so complex and often morally ambiguous. It's definitely not just the action, although the action, particularly the large scale battles, are phenomenally crafted. I'm not sure what your personal tastes are like, OP, but I'd definitely say give it a chance. Keep in mind that the first half or so of season 1 is a lot of world building, which might be a little boring, but has incredible payoff in the sense that it allows an entire universe, history, political system, geography, family history and characters to be very well established and makes the rest of the series possible and real. I literally watched 5 episodes (back in 2013/14) and went "meh." And then I watched it again in 2014 (to give it a second chance) and IDK WHY but my attitude completely changed. The first 5 episodes still dragged for me, but once I got over that I realized how much I loved the show. It's such a powerful show, it's realistic but not really (with all the magic and stuff), and it's not High fantasy to the point of blending in with all the other fantasy series I read and/or watched. It's such a unique show that is totally worth getting into even if you might not like it at first.
