A travel warning means Intelligence Agencies has come across information that terror attacks are being planned. They share this intel with the countries involved, but then are under obligation to give US citizens the same general information. The travel warning wasn't at a level of "don't go" or "strongly advise against going". It is the same type of travel warnings they issue for air travel at different times in the states when they have certain intel. That doesn't mean that people stop flying. 

No one is saying anywhere is "super safe" right now. Both "sides" need to stop with the hysterical claims. It's getting ridiculous.

Oh and actually it's a travel "alert" not a warning according to the website: 

"We issue a Travel Alert for short-term events we think you should know about when planning travel to a country. Examples of reasons for issuing a Travel Alert might include an election season that is bound to have many strikes, demonstrations, or disturbances; a health alert like an outbreak of H1N1; or evidence of an elevated risk of terrorist attacks. When these short-term events are over, we cancel the Travel Alert." 

Warning:

"We issue a Travel Warning when we want you to consider very carefully whether you should go to a country at all. Examples of reasons for issuing a Travel Warning might include unstable government, civil war, ongoing intense crime or violence, or frequent terrorist attacks. We want you to know the risks of traveling to these places and to strongly consider not going to them at all. Travel Warnings remain in place until the situation changes; some have been in effect for years."

The Travel Warnings are no way justified in my eyes and just a trumpish thing to do.

Travel warnings (alerts) have been around far longer than Trump has been around and the travel warnings this summer in Europe did not come from Trump.

Of course I am happy for you Americans if you feel "safe" living in the USA, but do yourself a favour and stop saying Europe or especially "UK and France are to scary to travel because of terror attacks", when in fact very much more people are being killed on a daily basis in the USA in comparsion to European countries through gun violence/homicide.

I am feeling very safe in Madrid, Paris, Brussels, Berlin, London or any other European city - where terror attacks occurred.

In fact, I feel very safe in the entire European Union.

But to be honest, I wouldn't feel as safe in the USA - because of your abhorrent "gun violance/homicide" rates and your current "law on arms".

I never said they were scary to travel to, etc. but it is a fact high tourist areas are potential targets in the summer when extremist terror attacks are more frequent.

I travel all over the US and feel very safe. I've been to most major cities and states and the big tourist attractions in the US and I've never been a victim of any type of crime, seen a gun or seen a gun crime being committed. I don't know a single person in my friend of family group who has ever been a victim of a gun crime. 

"I wouldn't feel safe in London because of what I've seen on TV. I'm applying the two instances of terror to what it must be like to live there or visit there 365 days a year, every year".........See how silly that is?

But your friend @Gaga Monster said so inside of this thread and a lot of other US-American members on this board did so in previous threads, where we were discussing about terror attacks which occurred in Europe within the last couple of years:

Well, things like this depend on the individual and their experience. Some people get scared over things they see on the news. In fact, tourism declines anywhere there is an attack. I remember reading about how these attacks always affect the tourism industry. 

Of course if you are traveling to a very popular European city like London it will be in the back of your mind that extremists have called for attacks on locals and tourists. Popular cities might be larger targets. 

Imo that does not mean one should be scared but we just need to be aware of any threats

Well, some American gun owners are worried about going to the UK or France because in America they can carry their Glock and in the UK or France, they can't. Makes sense to me.

I'm on several gun forums and every so often there are questions about what kind of discrete defensive items people can bring on foreign vacations where guns aren't allowed (usual recommendations are pens, canes, walking sticks, etc).
