Trump told him 'not to worry about sea-level rise' that is submerging the island

'Your island has been there for hundreds of years, and I believe your island will be there for hundreds more,' the president said of the town of about 450 people 

A study found almost 67 per cent of the island has sank underwater in 150 years

Scientists forecast residents could be forced to abandon their homes in 25 years

Trump is popular in the town, with 87 per cent of people voting for him last year 

'The Tangier Islands and the Town are running out of time, and if no action is taken, the citizens of Tangier may become among the first climate change refugees in the continental USA,' the report states.
