We spent $7.7 million of our own money while passing through the worst debt crisis in our history for a plebiscite that wasn't even backed by Congress. There was a national call to boycot the plebiscite by different political groups, also considering the general dislike towards this administration, so voter turnout being only 23% is no surprise. Most, if not all, statehood supporters mainly back it due to the idea that being incorporated as a state will solve our economic crisis. Governor RossellĆ³ has basically sold us that idea. I support Puerto Rico's independence or a very reformed association with the United States, but it will be a kii to see how we confront Congress with these results.Ā Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
