Taylor Swift Outperforms Katy Perry On Spotify

This timing was intentional on Taylor's part for sure. Taylor is in charge of her own business affairs and is her own manager. That said, this is not causing Katy to underperform - Katy has been doing that all on her own. Is this making for a terrible comparison and not helping at all? Yes.

Katy announced Roar first. & then Gaga announced Applause for another date but at the last minute moved it to sabotage Katy. Don't try it

Applause leaked and the links were spread by P*rez, hindering its rollout. So no.

Ok but she still moved it.

Other artists don't care about leaks and still continue with the original rollout

Or maybe Witness just isn't that good? :oprah:

No Katy hate, I do like her music but I did not like Witness at all. And it's impossible to say if Katys streams would be better if Taylor didn't release, youre just assuming Taylor fans would go and stream Witness instead. Katy has a huge banner on the front page of Spotify too so it's not like Taylor blocked her promo.

Even Madonna, a music veteran with a big fanbase was forced to rush release Rebel Heart after the leaks. Same thing happened with Lana Del Rey, who is kind of under-the-radar. She had big plans for Love's rollout and was upset when it leaked, but went ahead and threw it out there early. All these artists made the right decision. It makes more sense just to bite the bullet and officially release it after a leak, especially if it's the lead single rather than to pretend nothing is happening. It allows your fans to officially purchase it rather than pirate it amongst themselves. You miss out on a profit otherwise (this is how they make their living after all).

Wait, I thought Taylor Swift was against streaming and prefers Apple Music over Spotify because Apple was more fair?

Or did I miss out on some news? :air:

I'm so confused.

I fell down the stairs once as an actor.

How is Taylor responsible for Katy's poor streams? Everyone who was gonna listen to Witness just decided to listen to 1989 (a nearly 3 year old album) instead?

on the same date, there's that. How is Taylor not responsible? LOL We blame Katy for her poor single choices but she should profit from this feud too, since Tay Nay already did. (as much as Katy can profit these days tho:poot:)

Nope. She hated streaming until Katy released an album.

You didn't miss anything, Taylor is just that petty :sharon:

I feel bad for Katy, but the lackluster response to her album isn't Taylor's fault at all. It was such a dirty move, but it's pretty entertaining ngl. If Taylor just owned her pettiness and stopped pretending to still be America's little sweetheart, she wouldn't bother me :sure:

Cold as ice cream, but still as sweet.

Winning Always Talent :applause:

Katy: Makes a song calling Taylor a bitch three years later, makes several shady tweets including ones that praise Taylor getting some bad press, discusses it on Carpool Karaoke, discusses it in a recent interview

Monsters: Omg go Katy! She's so mature and reserved!

Taylor: Makes a song that never calls out anyone specifically, never speaks about feud after release. Still hasn't mentioned Katy

Monsters: Petty! Snake! Hate her!

Take a moment to think of just flexibility, love, and trust~

Taylor pretends to be Reese Witherspoon in Sweet Home Alabama, but she is really Reese Witherspoon in Election. I agree, she needs to own it! The person she pretends to be is boring and borderline irritating. Her personality is duplicitous and that of a Wall Street shark, but it is at least interesting.

Her label renegotiated royalty contracts with Spotify so I guess they fixed what she had an issue with

Lmfao in what world is a 3 year old album being uploaded gonna prevent people from listening to a thoroughly promoted, brand new one, from an A-list pop star?

I hated Taylor before and I hate her even more now.

To deliberately sabotage another artist's album release is ****ing messed up, especially as Katy clearly put so much effort into it

Oh god, people really get this upset over this ****?

Get a life, tbh.

If Witness was actually good, her streams would have been higher :nails:

It's business, it's not rainbows and ponies.

You're disguising your words man. 3 year old album, sure, still more successful than any of Katy's. Also it was the whole discography, not just one album. Katy's new album has already being called a flop by an A List actress (Ruby Rose), before it was even released. All because of the feud with an ACTUALLY very successful A lister and far more liked popstar, Taylor Swift. This makes audiences not even give it a try in the first place because they previously declared it wasn't going to happen.

It's shady that she released her music through streaming just on this date when she declared her hate for streaming before, and it's not like fans are blind.

Ruby Rose is far from an A-list actress, that would be Angelina Jolie, Nicole Kidman, Viola Davis. Also you're acting like Katy isn't the only woman (and 2nd person EVER) to get 5 #1 singles off one album, not to mention one of the biggest songs in both 2013 and 2014. Katy is huge, America just isn't here for Witness.
