teawhore 7,667
Overall, ARTPOP was better, but Joanne had Dancin' in Circles which I L O V E ♡ nyc ♡
WildAmerican 13,672
Joanne is more cohesive, consistent throughout, and it's the type of music I prefer. ARTPOP is still enjoyable but the whole middle section 8-12 is a mess
JiU 2,194
While ARTPOP is the album I listened to more, has my favorite song by Gaga on it and an amazing aesthetic, I gotta say Joanne. It's a more cohesive record, and every song on it is really unique and special. Half of ARTPOP is about sex and the other half is just a mess. It's an amazing mess, but a mess nonetheless. LDGA 1,260
ARTPOP, is a beautiful disaster, and thats what i love from that album, every song is a rampage of emotions in disorder, i really love that. Meanwhile Joanne is more consistent, natural and real. But i prefer ARTPOP all the way.
Arizona Sky 10,913
Joanne by far
Ashley 9,372
The music on Joanne is some her best and to me has more depth than most of ARTPOP. As far as music videos go both only had one good video (Applause and John Wayne), and John Wayne is better imo.

Better production, better instrumentals, better lyrics, and a better flow for the most part. The Most Popular Girls in School megarate is cancelled! Moebius 8,965
Joanne doesn't even sound like something Gaga would make. In the bad kind of sense. I don't hate it, it's just very boring except for Perfect Illusion. Whatever floats your boat I guess. The Most Popular Girls in School megarate is cancelled! AddMeOnMYSPACE 2,004
Joanne is more superior musically and lyrically. Also nothing can top her pink hat.

bumblebee 2,528
When I think of ARTPOP and its best moments, I instantly realize that the record in a way like suffers from bipolar music disorder. There are two groups of the songs on the record. The first one, to me, is the songwriting core of the album. This group includes MANiCURE, Do What U Want, Dope, Gypsy and Applause. Much as all those songs enjoy the generous touch of electronica in the productions, they all display this retro-vibe, this past simplicity feel and reliance on rockish mood. Even Applause, the most electronic candy of them all, draws heavy influence from the past and the likes of Eurythmics, for instance. And the second group includes all the efforts to create some fresh EDM beats in Aura, Venus, G.U.Y., Sexxx Dreams, Jewels'n'Drugs, ARTPOP, Swine, Donatella, Mary Jane Holland. A lot of these songs have become fan-favorites, but the production on those songs turned out to be a bit tiring, overpacked with sonic details and pretentiousness for avant-garde and freshness. So I choose Joanne because I think that Joanne picks up right from that first group of ARTPOP songs, and I consider that grip the best, and I think that the best of what we got from ARTPOP was already very Joanne-ish
Luke78619 23,315
joanne definitely, ARTPOP was messy in every way I still enjoy it though joanne is more refined, the tracks fit a theme better, the melodies actually work well and are cohesive, the instrumentals seem more professional, and I love the more personal side Gaga is showing insta: good_lukeing | I have nothing else to promote
