RedOne isn't really THAT much of a star producer compared to Dr. Luke and Max Martin imo

I agree.

I'm glad she produced the godly track that is:

alone.

People keep giving credit only to RedOne, DJ White Shadow, Zedd, Madeon, Mark Ronson, Fernando Garibay when it comes to Gaga's work. People keep forgetting that Gaga IS a major producer of her own work, when I say major producer, that means she's BEYOND a co-producer. She has given equal if not more contribution to her songs than her producers do.

She produced Venus alone. She wrote You and I, Just Another Day alone. Any Lady Gaga track you listen to directly comes from her, sure there's contribution coming from other producers but she's not Beyonce, Rihanna, Katy Perry who don't know how to produce their own songs.

I think Gaga is literally the only female artist who produces her own tracks.

Venus has a lot of samples tho

Beyonce and Katy both have producer credits on their latest albums. Marina Diamandis wrote every song on her last album and helped co-produce. Let's not act like Gaga is the only one who does this.

I also didn't want to mention the fact that Venus had a co-producer but here we are.

Beyonce produced a few tracks. Gaga produces every single one of it ever since The Fame Monster.

Katy IS NOT a producer. Where did you get your facts?

Venus was produced by Gaga with mininal help from Madeon so Gaga made like the majority of Venus.

Jesus is it so hard for you guys to acknowledge the fact that Gaga IS a producer...

She really did predict things, didn't she? That last bit she said about "maybe they can run the ship but star producers are getting in the way" could easily have been said about the Dr Luke/Kesha situation. It also reminds me of what Ed talked about regarding why Shape Of You went on his album - he wanted a really personal song to be there but his label told him to go for the uptempo dancey track and he listened to them because he knew they were right. And I suppose they were, commercially speaking, but it did nothing for his artistry. He's in that zone that Gaga never wanted to be in. Now artists are just putting out tracks that are reminiscent of other artists work and copying a popular sound. Indeed, it's the producers people are hyped for more than the artists themselves now. The ironic thing about all this is that Gaga is so against the producer taking centre stage and yet, it was her introduction to the music scene that actually brought about this phenomenon. It wasn't until she came along that the likes of David Guetta started having hits based off their own name, not the singer who was featured. People started saying "RedOne" at the beginning of his produced tracks. The likes of Calvin Harris and Zedd started having a feature tag in a song they'd produced for someone, even though they only supplied sounds and not vocals (before, to get credit on a song's title, you had to do singing). How ironic that Gaga becoming famous brought about what she feared would happen. But let's not forget that she bucked the trend she created. GUY was produced by Zedd who had made a name for himself at the time but she didn't put his name in a feature tag. That tells you that she wanted any success and praise for this track attributed to herself, the writer.

There are less mainstream ones who do but the mainstream ones? She's not the only one but she's definitely one of the few.

Beyonce's idea of producing is making vocal re-arrangements to a song - adding runs and high notes and suchlike. Apparently, she can play piano but there's no way she actually produces non-piano led ballads. I don't agree that changing some vocals makes you a producer, however, but people have different ideas.

I researched what you said about Katy and was shocked to find that she rarely, if ever, does production work. The only songs that she's ever produced are Waking Up In Vegas, By The Grace of God and Choose Your Battles. I was even more shocked to find that she produced nothing on her Katy Hudson indie album, despite the fact that she played guitar throughout that. This is such a surprise because I've always known that she plays guitar, so what's with the lack of production credits, especially on ballads? Weird.
