That is just arguing semantics, and this is a situation where the child is sleeping on a cramped seat where they could slide down rather than a fully awake child sitting on your lap keeping themselves up. Not to mention the report says "near the child's genitals" near the child's genitals?!? It doesn't explicitly say on or moving in an inapporpriate manner, it specifically says near, and that could mean just about anything.

I am all for protecting kids, but if you're going to accuse a parent of something, at least have proof beyond a second hand account of what happened. This is the life of a child and parent we are talking about. My sister burned herself as a child, because she came into the bathroom and was asked to be careful but instead pulled down the curling iron into her arm. She was fine but when she went to school a teacher reported my mother as an abuser because of ONE BURN and no other evidence prior to this. She was under investigation for months because of that, and she was a biological parent. Now imagine what that would be like for an adoptive parent...yeah, it's a serious allegation, and if you're going to accuse someone, take a photo, or have some proof!

But he wasn't doing anything, and they called social services on him because they are prejudiced. 

You know what hurts peoples feelings? Saying that it's okay to call social services on gay fathers for holding their kids.

No one is making light of molestation, that's a weak arguement to cling too. Several people are making light of prejudice though. "Just let the authorities handle it," isn't a good answer when they can lose out on the right to adopt because of attitudes like yours. "Better safe than sorry" turns into "gays need not apply."

Faith in humanity and logic restored. Thank yall both for having logic and not the automatic response of 'call the police' because this was something that could have been avoided completely had people with prejudice not intervened or at least taken ample time to assess the situation

Your response was a little cheap though. Where did 'holding a kids crotch' come from? The article never stated that. I didn't either. The article talks about the man's arm/hand being placed close to the child's genitals. Using logic, this tells me the man had his arm around the child and was obviously holding/resting his arm on the child's leg to support him from falling, or simply to ensure he was comfortable whilst asleep.

'Molestation' is a term meaning the assault and abuse of someone in a sexual nature. 

'Holding a kids crotch', as you put it, does sound like molestation. If the man on the plane was holding his child's crotch, then yes, I'd side with the flight attendant on this one. But he was not. He was, to put it simply, being a parent to his child. There's an immense difference in how you are interpreting the incident on the flight to what actually happened. 

The parents of the child who are being accused have every right to be outraged at the airline and their accusation, and how they were treated following the accusation.
