Is El Dorado Shakira's best album this decade?

No. It sucks.

I'm sorry to say this because I was really looking forward to this album.

I like Nada, Chantaje, Comme moi and Toneladas, La Bicicleta (which was a hit last summer here in Spain and no one liked it at first, just like Me enamoré, which I also like but the lyrics are cringey.

Perro Fiel is a typical reggaeton song, it's just okay.

Trap is Shakira's worst song and has really uncomfortable lyrics to sing, and I don't want to say sexist but... They are kind of ew

I actually enjoyed Trap a lot.

For me the album is pretty nice, there aren't any bad songs on it.

Really like the fact that she focused on singing in Spanish with this one.

No, only Toneladas, Nada, and La Bicicleta are good imo. I'm disappointed tbh, I used to stan her until Loba came out.  But I love Nada, it makes me feel nostalgic.

I love Shakira but definietly NO ! there are so many repetative "Latin Music Beat" in the album and only she could turn her career from a global star to a Latin/Spanish star, lately most her videos are so bland , low budget and put together at final moment like aswell, she needs to updater hers self like she did with She wolf.

I'll give it a listen now that it has leaked but I'm not expecting anything good. Shakira has not released a good album in over a decade and El Dorado seems like the album the label releases when an artist passes away and they gather demos and random stuff they could find just to sell something.

Chantaje was my guilty pleasure this year but Me Enamoré and Bicicleta are HORRIBLE songs. I'll have an open mind when I listen to the rest of the tracks but just like Shakira., Sale el Sol and She Wolf, I know these are just lazy produced songs. This comes from a fan of Shakira's early music though.

I think all three albums released this decade are pretty equal in terms of quality. Self-titled is actually quite good, if you remove that Blake Shelton duet (very bitter about this blatant The Voice promo). Sale El Sol was overall consistently good, but I didn't find it very impressionable. So, despite El Dorado including what amounts to 'too many' songs released under other artists (Comme Moi, La Bicicleta, Deja Vu), it's still pretty strong and consistent. I question why she included the second Maluma-track (Trap) when it is clear that Chantaje was their superior effort...it is rare to see an artist feature the same artist twice on the same album. I think had she removed (or replaced) Trap and solely included What We Said in favor of Comme Moi (so the song feels more 'her' [and I also really like the Shakira/MAGIC! collabs ]), the album would be quite strong.

Overall, all three albums this decade are good. I would say El Dorado puts forth the best additions to Shakira's catalog (Chantaje, Me Enamore, La Bicicleta, Nada, and Amarillo [another throw back]). I appreciate that the album seamlessly mixes Spanish and English-language songs, with the primary focus on her native Spanish.

Therefore, I'd say it goes El Dorado > Shakira. > Sale El Sol.

I had such high expectations for this album and I was let down. I'm still pressed about all the collaborations that have been out for months now, along with the singles. But her solo tracks aren't even that good.

When A Woman is good, but she's using this really bad accent during the verses (mostly first verse) that makes it hard to even understand her. Idk why she chose to sang it like that, if she can actually pronounciate English well.

Amarillo reminds me of Mariposas from Sale El Sol.

Perro Fiel is good but it's just a more reggaeton Chantaje.

Trap is a terrible attempt at trap/hip-hop/reggaeton. And repetitive.

Coconut Tree is possibly the best track. Just because of its beachy summer chill vibe. And the lyrics are nice.

Toneladas is okay. But nothing exciting.

Overall I rate the album a 3 out of 5 stars. It's just the same beat she's been putting out since Sale El Sol. Unless she makes another pop album in English (examples Chasing Shadows, She Wolf, Men In This Town, Pure Intuition) her global power is just gonna diminish and she's just gonna be known as a Latina artist rather than the global star she is. I've been a fan since her early stuff (Piez Descalzos, Donde Están Los Ladrones, Laundry Service) so this is definitely a let down of an album.

The album feels soooo random. There are the Reggeton songs, the more classic Shakira songs like Nada, trash like Me Enamoré... :wtf:

The album doesn't have a direction, just a bunch of recorded demos and feats that were hits (La Bicicleta wasn't even Shakira's song) all thrown together. Shakira. felt lazy but this one takes the crown. :emma:

I wonder why "Amarillo" is not called El Dorado tho.

And Maluma is of course the most misogynist modern """"artist"""" there is. Such a let down Shakira would record something like TRAP :grr:

Kindness rules all.
