How many artists do you like? I'm picky and usually only buy 3 albums a year and some singles.

Streaming allow you to hear any song you want without needing to go to a shop. That's so much better than CD's ♡Gaga♡TØP♡Nightwish♡Lana♡Lorde♡Grimes♡

And Cher, well her debut was on the piano next to Mozart and she got her biggest record in the later 90s, and her highest chart position in 2013. So why should Gaga give up right at the first stone thrown in her way? But those mediums were still ran by adults, with the arrival of streaming, younger people control the charts and Gaga's fan base is older. The music industry changed more since The Fame than it did for Madonna's entire career from her debut to COADF.
ryhanna 3,507
Nope. Technology continues to advance, streaming is the future. Welcome to the digital landscape of the 21st century. By the way, I think it's cool af that streaming allows us instantaneous access to an immense library of music, movies and tv. We can discover new artists by ourselves so much easier now. It's no longer just about labels and studios pushing an artist to become popular, they can build their career on exposure that they've attained themselves through connecting with an audience. Certain kinks in the structure and system of streaming services need to be sorted, but overall I think it's a beautiful future for entertainment. Let's not fight the future. <

Take me back to the 90s. Labels know best, the GP will wreak havoc on the charts.
AlexanderMagno 10,746
No, because gaga 's streaming power is not that big. If she was gone from Spotify, it would only damage her. No one would buy her singles more than they already do. And 1989, 25 and Lemonade... All the examples you gave were extremely successful not because of Spotify

But it's not sad, it's a very positive thing! New artists can have so much more exposure than any other time in the history of music! We, the consumer, have so much more variety and options when it comes to what we can discover and listen to! It's wonderful.
freebit 6,240
I don't know about taking her material off streaming services altogether (like Prince did). I feel like that cuts off more potential listeners from getting into her. I think it would be potentially beneficial for her to delay her album for a few months before putting it up for streaming on Spotify rather than throwing the proverbial baby out with the bathwater. I do have a feeling streaming as we know it could end up kind of collapsing in the future though (especially if more competitive platforms come out, and if exclusives become common), but that could be a while.
