Bradley 54,988
America is the one who labelled Katy 'the female MJ', not in terms of talent of course, just from the fact that they both scored five #1 singles in the US from a single album. But anything that Katy puts out now flops in the US. Why is that? http://kworb.net/pop/ Liam Payne's new song rose from under top 100 to #62 very quickly, whereas Chained to the Rhythm dropped from #60+ to #86, Bon Appetit remains out of top 100, Swish Swish which features Nicki Minaj is also out of top 100. It's not like Katy hasn't been promoting in the US, she's seen at Wango Tango, on Ellen, and doing bizarre promotion at the Whitney museum. She's also set to perform on SNL. What are your opinions on America's feedback? Spoiler The Cure is at #38 despite having no video. Does Witness deserve this? #Pray4Witness

JR Gg 12,985
Yes it does deserve to flop and that Female MJ name is just a proof of how Americans are sleeping on TALENT.
Lucas 20,616
Because she's releasing the same songs over and over. Every singles she released since Teenage Dream could be on the same album, it's tiring.
venusfly 17,879
Because labels are no longer able to control the music industry like they once did. Labels used to push cash cow artists and only give the mainstream public the option to listen to them, streaming has enabled the public to seek out artists and specific songs they like instead without labels and radios dictating who should be popular at that time. Every pop star is feeling the same effect. It is no longer possible to sell your music based on your name for the majority of artists. its a good thing in general but bad for pop stans
Weasel 12,525
Could it be that her age has anything to do with it? Youngsters not being able to relate to her anymore?

Jennifer Lopez scored her #1 hit On the Floor at the age of 42. Beyonce also charted pretty well with BEYONCE and Lemonade at the ages of 33 and 35, respectively. TheCure 125
Because she has nowhere to go as an artist. Those big bubble gum hits were it. The tweens have grown up and moved on and she has nothing to give them as a growing, maturing artist. This messy new album proves she has no vision. Even her current look is Miley Cyrus circa 2013. Panchecco 17,143
I think they're just tired of her... juts like in 2013 people got over the whole ARTPOP thing pretty fast but it could also be that her sound is slightly different this Era and when peole hear "Katy Perry has a new song" they probably expect something a la Firework, Roar or Teenage Dream

G.U.Y. only flopped because Gaga didn't even bother to promote it. She went on tour immediately. So ARTPOP was adored by a huge segment of the audience. Dorothy Gale 7,575
She got overexposed here. Her songs had great recurrent radio plays, and she had the halftime show, tv commercials and more. People are probably more open to her in Europe, but she's been everywhere since teenage dream in America.
