I Don't Think Gaga Wants To Be A Popstar Anymore

I just don't think being an international pop star is what Gaga lives for anymore. I think ARTPOP impacted Gaga much more deeply than we thought. I'm guessing she took the perceived underperformance to heart and thought her career was in a worse spot than it was. As a fan there was something in her eyes around the time that just screamed depression to me. 

Then with C2C, Gaga became even more divorced from the world of the mainstream top forty than ever before. I think her drive to be on top was gone. Then in creating Joanne she had nothing in mind other than creating a record she loved, which is completely commendable. The Super Bowl gave Gaga a taste of what she loved, and for the first time in a long time I saw a fire in Gaga. To take advantage of Coachella, Gaga decided to release The Cure, an ASIB reject as a treat, but her schedule was so tight it didn't allow any real promo. I think Gaga is loving filming and is more interested in acting than singing right now.

Ot: I think she knows what impacts her career in the long run. A probable top 5 hit vs Oscar nominations for her songs. Also she's a smart woman she knows her music alone is not going to keep her relevant considering the current music scene and is trying at various media to give her another life in the mainstream. Which is commendable

Sorry, it's just that this has been such a discussed topic over... I don't know, years.

I think somehow she wasn't able to manage the ups and downs a pop star career has. So stepping away was the best way to cope with it. The movie industry, although harsh, will be different, maybe easier for her since she's already an established celebrity (movie industry is mostly hard for newcomers).

Duhh. She's pretty much stated it. She's talked her way around directly saying it so many times in so many ways. She wants to keep making music because she has to because it's a huge part of who she is, but she doesn't want to be a 'pop-star' any more.

She's not interested in being a popstar anymore because she's already reached the epitome of being a popstar in a very short span of time. She's had #1s, sold out shows all over the world, and a huge, dedicated fanbase. I think she's realised that all these are meaningless at the very end, and that continually chasing after such would be a waste of time. She is now trying to establish herself as a legendary artist, who is not just popular, but revered and respected.

I remember years ago, during the BTW era, they used to have Gaga updates on Clevver Music's YouTube channel, and a commenter said on the idea of Gaga starting in an Amy Winehouse biopic that Gaga could only go so far in music. I think they were somewhat right. Gaga achieved a level of fame few ever attain almost overnight, and "Lady Gaga" as a pop culture entity went viral. Other stars like Rihanna and Taylor took years to even come close. Gaga can't keep upping the ante when she gave us so much so fast in terms of music and visuals,

That felt like it was an interscope mandate or bone thrown to pop fans who thought Joanne was too country. I don't feel like Gaga is truly living for her music anymore.

she needed to take a step back and focus on her mental health and give herself time so that her mind and spirit could heal so I don't think she doesn't want to be a "popstar" anymore she just needed a "break" 

she doesn't love being a popstar but she sure loves making music, perform, entertain and bring people together and she needed to remember that... and that's basically what she's been doing since after ARTPOP: the experience with Tony helped her discover again her love for music, the experience on AHS made her discover again her passion for acting, Joanne made her connect even more with her family (hers but also us monsters) and the SB represented the highlight of her carreer and it will forever remembered as on of her greatest performances
