Why are people saying ARTPOP when most of ARTPOP was just recycled EDM tracks and samples :toofunny: I think songs like Electric Chapel and Heavy Metal Lover felt more ahead of it's time

Sis, I love ARTPOP, but the influence was from the EDM trend that was dominant in 2012 where almost every mainstream artist dropped an EDM influenced album. Gaga arrived late at the party, unfortunately too late when EDM was on its way out and RnB came back in.

In my messy era.

Just check all the billboard charts from 2012 & 2013.

Just Dance and Poker Face were unlike anything at that time and really revolutionized pop music a song everyone started doing synthpop afterwards.

I'm SHOCKED Bad Romance hasn't  been brought up yet. That song was way ahead of its time!

how on EARTH was Do What You Want ahead of it's time, it was an r'n'b sound from 1999/2000 ?

come on, it may have an r&b vibe, but nothing on ARTPOP sounded (sonically) as anything you've heard before... it was like futuristic electronic music with an old soul.

We said ahead not outdated. :awkney:

(And before you come at me, I love ARTPOP but the EDM sound of this album was already everywhere in 2012 & 2013)

The pulsating/staggered bass of DWUW was replicated by Ariana Grande's Love Me Harder, Taylor Swit's Style and Nick Jonas' Jealous. DWUW did not start this but the sound became more popular mainstream after this. And mind you Taylor Swift openly said she listened to and liked ARTPOP

and no, Drake's Goin Home does NOT have that bass

All of ARTPOP.  If it were to be released in 2017, it would be praised to the heavens.

You tell me ONE song from 1999/2000 which even remotely resembles DWUW?

I always thought Perfect Illusion's production sounded unique. Not my fave but it certainly had potential.
