SlaeUrAnus 15,955
Sis, I think we have ALL gathered that Gaga's lack of streaming and the shift from popular female singers to an industry dominated by males is the two fundamental reasons why Gaga (and the majority of females) are struggling. In my messy era.

In fact I remember early on in her career, around The Fame Monster, that Gaga used to be so anti-Hollywood. But she also wanted to be a movie star, even before she wanted to be a singer. Or she wanted to be an all-round entertainer like Bette, Cher and Barbra. So...I think she is just taking a break from being an explosive, outre pop star and doing what she always wanted, which is be a star on the big screen. And then once the hoopla from ASIB dies down (my God that will be around early 2019, after Gaga bags her first Oscar ) she will refocus again on experimenting with pop music. And by then, she will a lot more to sing about Omg totally. She kind of NEEDS to be in LA if she wants to go the route of Cher/Barb/Bette. However, I feel like she made the jump really early in her career, and pretty suddenly. I mean we went from ARTPOP, to the insanely-thematic C2C where she was super connected to NY, to breaking up w Taylor, taking refuge in Malibu, putting out a CA-inspired album and becoming an acctress. I think that she's on a great career path, however, her music/art is suffering. She doesn't commit in the way that she used to. I have no doubt that she will one day put it back in the forefront and do some crazy Madonna **** in her 30's and 40's. But as a fan of the music, performances, videos, outfits, etc., it's a bit hard to sit back and watch and still be excited by.

He raises some good points. Gaga will always have some form of success and be relevant but it seems like having a hit song is becoming more and more difficult for her and perhaps not plausible at all at this point. Yes. Million Reasons. You said it for yourself buddy MR is not a hit because of the super bowl. Formation was performed by Beyoncé at the super bowl with full production and theatrics, plus everyone was talking about it for months. It's all anyone talked about, and it was debuted there. Formation went on to barely ever chart and had almost zero radio impact. Formation and Beyoncé flopped HARD. The Super Bowl means nothing for a single's success. It was Gaga's appeal, especially considering MR is no anti-radio trends Women in music aren't doing well in general, it has nothing to do with Gaga or ARTPOP. And these artists don't do much more promo than Gaga is doing right now. So yes, Gaga does need promo, but other artists don't seem to need much. However if there is a song they should pick up, then that song is The Cure.
BabyTellMeYes 75
Even around my fellow gay sistrens, Gaga kinda gets an eyeroll now. Like Hiedi Klum says, "one day your in, the next day your out" and Gaga is kinda out now. Will she be "in" again ? Only time will tell. Just ask KP. Same boat. But Gaga had so little time "in" compared to her contemporaries. It's not fair.

Million Reasons was still only a moderate hit, not a smash. Yeah, remember how much MR struggled before the Super Bowl, even after Carpool Karaoke? Gaga was "in" for 3 album cycles that's a whole album cycle longer than Katy (TD & the first quarter of prism), Beyonce only became in after it became trendy to overrate her (2 albums - ST & Lemonade even though she barely had a hit from those) and even Madonna's peak of popularity and creativity only lasted for about 2 album cycles. Then you have the newer pop girls like Miley who's popularity peak was the first 3 months of Bangerz, Ariana's who's was only really for a single or two and Selena who comes and goes but hasn't peaked anywhere near any of the people listed. Gaga's peak as the in-thing was most definitely the longest out of all her competitors, even longer than madonna's and she's supposedly the QoP

I think it wasn't even available on iTunes at all immediately after the Super Bowl.

They are in when they are producing hits and getting positive public feedback of a commercial nature. Miley Cyrus has been "in" for literally her entire life. She was just REALLY REALLY in for the first two songs of Bangerz. Beyonce has likewise been "in" for her entire career dating back to her first breakthrough hit with Destiny's Child. And are you freaking serious? Katy Perry wasn't at all in during her debut album when "I Kissed a Girl" and "Hot & Cold" rocketed across the globe and made her a household name? What are you smoking? Also, Ariana Grande and Selena Gomez both have a long history of consistent chart success that doesn't look like it's going anywhere anytime soon.
