Batwings 12,851
Patti Lupone (who many of you may know from American Horror Story: Coven), the Broadway star who originated the role of Eva Peron in Evita, in an interview with Andy Cohen, said that she thought Madonna's performance of the same role in the film adaptation was a "piece of sh**." She goes on to say that "Madonna is a movie killer... She’s dead behind the eyes, she can’t act her way out of a paper bag. She should not be in film or on stage. She’s a wonderful performer for what she does, but she is not an actress." Ooolong 4,440
Petty. She could've left it at, "I didn't find her performance convincing." instead of being so rude. The Unbannable Chanteuse

juju 18,907
It's pretty much known, Madonna cannot play any role that doesn't relate to her in some way (hence her best movies being Desperately Seeking Susan and Who's That Girl). Not surprised she was dragged for the role of Evita, even still: it was a disgrace in all honesty. A visionary? Yes. Trendsetter? Maybe. But an actress.... no. ❤ x ❤

In DSS, she was basically playing herself, and in WTG, she showed that she could actually do comedy very well, but instead of going in that direction, she tried to do more serious dramatic roles.
