Arcanum 5,150
Tropical house is the trend. DJs do the thing. There are no famous female tropical house DJs. I Wantth your Love...I Wantth your Love.
lordmaler 896
The music is bad. Productions are bland and empty and that's why songs last one week and disappear. Compare ANY song released today to some pop song released in 2009. You can hear how pop hits from 2009 sound lush and "fat"...

They could make a Thriller-level masterpiece and it would fail to top the charts. Meanwhile, Justin Biber writes a cute little chorus for a remix and it skyrockets to #1 at the charts. Music is not longer worth it. Imagine putting all your hard work and passion into a peice of art, and when u realese ut, everyone ignores it. True to an extent. I think artists like Bey and Bieber have built their brands rather well, and thus the quality of their music can be sub-par and it would still sell. Music's in an odd place right now, nothing exciting is happening at all.

It's a cop out to say that women just aren't good enough to get hits nowadays. Don't twist my words to make it seem like I was being sexist/dismissive in saying what I said. What I said was not a cop-out, nor did I say that they aren't good enough. Let me just clarify by elaborating. I currently feel as though the Pop girls aren't as committed nor creative as they were five years ago. You can tell by listening to their releases. Their music doesn't excite me, it's boring. There's no risk taking, no boundary pushing, no statement making. Honestly, the only Pop girl release that has left me satisfied in recent times has been Ariana's 'Dangerous Woman', and that's largely because 'Into You' and 'Leave Me Lonely' breathed new life into me. Re: Joanne; I love the album - I appreciate the sentiment of it all, it contains some beautiful pop songs but is it cohesive? No. Is it up to the standard I've come to expect from Gaga? No. Am I fan that's stuck back in Born This Way or whatever this fanbase reduces someone who wasn't 100% happy with Joanne etc? No. I understand it's all about evolvement for Gaga, and I respect it. However. Releasing an album titled 'Joanne' after your deceased Aunt and then kicking such a deep and sad story off with 'Perfect Illusion' as a single ... MESS. How was anyone meant to connect with the concept of the album? Now we have Katy Perry going on and on about politics and about how her latest release is all about who she is at her core... and then we get a song where she sings 'got me spread like a buffet. Bon Appetite baby'. It's like the Pop Girls take us for fools. How am I meant to enjoy the music if it goes against what they're saying it's about? They've become transparent and lazy. It's not that they aren't good enough - they're all uber talented. They're better than what they're releasing, though.

Women go along with what their boyfriend's listen to, and a lot of artists nowadays are image artists. Lana and Drake are image artists imo, artists that you listen to because you want to project a certain image of yourself, or your friends like them. Female pop acts don't project a desirable image. That certainly is true and a good point. As a male, a huge portion of us don't feel comfortable giving our friends the impression that we're a 'free b*tch' or 'Goddess of Love' or 'xoxo, Joanne'. I mean sure there are a lot of people who do that on GGD but trust me when it comes to real life, they don't behave that way with their friends. Whereas, it's cool to be like Eminem, Drake, The Weeknd or even Zayn. Females who want to look feminine, pretty and cute seem to also project upon themselves an 'Ariana', 'Selena Gomez' or 'Taylor Swift' image. Because those are girls guys find attractive. No one is gonna look at a teenager behaving like Madonna or Beyonce or Gaga and say 'hey you get me so horny'. Beyonce is huge on albums but her singles never get played on the radio. Gaga also finds easier success on albums and tours than singles. I dk these strong women are now old enough to be mothers, there's a reason why it's so easy for Ariana and Selena Gomez to garner 200 million views in one or two months. At the end of the day, we know Gaga and Beyonce are going to stay as female legacies in music.

So true, and another thing to point out is that Beyonce's youtube views are hardly impressive yet she's regarded as the queen. Just shows how much youtube views are controlled by young fan bases. The BeyHive and Monsters don't have time to replay videos all day or watch them with their friends.

It's quite tiring for female artists. I mean Nicki Minaj's Regret in Your Tears has great visuals in my opinion, yet the views are so unimpressive. With such phenomena present in the industry, I think the music video for The Cure won't push it too far high up the charts. It really leaves the artists asking themselves 'They wanted visuals, and I gave them visuals, what do they want?! Shock value and controversy? Another Wrecking Ball-esque video?' I mean John Wayne and Regret In Your Tears are just two examples I can think of. I'm glad Gaga is delving into the acting business though, it doesn't punish aging women as severely as the music business does. Meryl Streep, Charlize Theron, Helen Mirren, Sarah Paulson, Kathy Bates and many women in their 40s and 50s are still thriving.
