Sometimes they just don't explode 

My guess was that they had some sort of defect.

I think so far it always went fine, without any complications/explosions. They will do their job again

The idiot was asking, if he could still see heavily destroyed areas in German cities because of massive air raid during WWII.

Of course the answer was NO!

Some bombs need to be triggered. They dont just explode

Defusing  Aerial  Bombs

Important information from Hanover Fire Brigade

Unexploded bombs from the Second World War are suspected to be present at several suspicious areas on a piece of construction land in the Wedelstraße (Vahrenwald), and in nearby surrounding areas. Currently there is no danger to residents, but the suspicious areas must be investigated further.

For safety reasons, it is necessary to set up an evacuation area so that the Lower Saxon bomb disposal unit can defuse the bombs if necessary. Defusing is planned for Sunday, 07/05/2017, from 9 am.

All those living or finding themselves within the evacuation radius must leave the safety zone. This will affect around 53,200 residents. A map of the evacuation area and list of the affected streets, paths and areas are listed in this information sheet. Extensive technical probes have confirmed the presence of weapons at the suspicious areas. These areas must now be uncovered. Such a measure would urgently require evacuation, covering a safety radius of 1000 metres.

Residents are asked to leave their homes on Sunday, 07/05/2017 at 9am, and also to inform their neighbours about the evacuation.

There will be free evacuation buses serving this assembly point. They will leave from the affected area from 9 am onwards.

Those with walking difficulties should call 1 92 22 to request ambulance transport.

Be sure to book any necessary transport before 05/07/2017, so that the fire brigade can arrange the required number of vehicles.

In case of questions, please call the citizens' telephone line on Freephone 0800  -  731  31  31 during the following hours:

• Friday,  05/05/2017 10 am to 3 pm

• Saturday,  06/05/2017 10 am to 3 pm

• Sunday,  07/05/2017 8 am until  all  measures  have  been  concluded

The bombs can only be defused once all safety precautions are in place. Please bear in mind that it is likely to be the evening before you can return to your home. If necessary, inform friends and relatives of your absence. Please take along all important items such as medication, baby food or special food, as well as suitable clothing. You should also inform your neighbours of evacuation procedures.

Before leaving your home, please make sure that all electrical and gas appliances (e. g. cooker, oven and iron) and taps are turned off. Do not leave any burning candles at home. Please also bear in mind that the bomb defusing  means only limited public transport services may be operating.

Culture and entertainment programme

For the first time, the state capital will organise an extensive culture and entertainment programme for those affected by one of  the largest evacuation measures in Germany.

Free entrance will be allowed to the Sprengel Museum, August Kestner Museum, Museum Castle Herrenhausen and the History Museum, and guided tours and a supporting programme are currently being planned. The Lister Baths can be used free of charge. A cultural programme will also take place in the Lister Tower District Centre. The city library will also be open on the Sunday. Hands-onmactivities and an entertainment programmenwill be offered at the assembly points by the List Park, the Hanover School of Music and the community Seniors' Service. You will be able to receive the latest information via radio announcements and the website of the Hanover City Council (www.hannover.de) and Hanover Fire Brigade (www.feuerwehr-hannover.de).
