....how much of a disaster Applause leaking was. If it would have been released as planned, the song would have had a video and a live performance in its first week, and it would have 99% gone #1, that was the plan actually. Going #1 would have given the song a boost in the charts overall, and even without that Applause did AMAZING in the US, 14 weeks in the top10 and her biggest radio hit here. Now imagine if it had gone #1......

Plus, the whole Roar vs Applause, Katy vs Gaga thing wouldn't have happened, so Gags wouldn't have gotten nearly as much backlash as she did.

Also, the ARTPOP era wouldn't have been labeled as a flop, and Troy would have probably stayed with Gaga until the end of the era (which is what the right thing to do would have been, since he started the era, btw I'm not saying that he isn't an a$$hole cause he is)

The truth is that there was a lot of negativity building up to that era, but Applause leaking imo was the nail in the coffin...

Roar would've blocked it anyway imo.

I mean, after selling 200k copies its first week, and debuting at #6, it still managed, with the help if a live performance and a video release, to climb to #4 the 2nd week. Now I know a live performance and a MV is a big deal, but my point is that if it hat gotten all of that + the hype of the 1st week, all in one week, it would have DEF had a big chance at #1. Roar didn't have a video nor a mv, and it debutwd at #2, not at #1, so Applause could have def gone #1 if it was released as planned.

(By the way Roar actually debuted at eighty sth because it was rush released but I'm not counting that as its real debut...)

Maybe you're right but it's all water under the bridge now. We have to live with this, BR not hitting #1 and many other things for the rest of our lives.

I don't care what Billboard says, Bad Romance is Gaga's 3rd #1 hit and Born This Way is her 4th and that's how it is :gaysia: :giggle:

Bad Romance is still the first song to go diamond only from digital sales :queenga:
