A Different Katy Perry thread

So seems like everyone is hating on her, some people are just saying stupid **** what doesn't make sense just to drag her and ect.

And for me it is completely different, it is the first time in my life when I am starting to like her. I think it is cool that she reinvented herself. I love her new look and I think she looks much better like this:

I love that she is posting funny stuff to instagram/snapchat and is making insensitive jokes (yes, I find her humour funny, I don't get how people can take some jokes so personally :toofunny: ).

By the way Bon Appetite is a ****ing bop. I can guarantee that a lot of 'haters' just hate on the song just because it is cool to drag Katy Perry. The instrumental slays. And the song is slutty, yes. But how can everyone complain, then I have seen a lot of times other stans posting here "OMG I WANT GAGA TO MAKE SLUTTY POP MUSIC AGAIN''. Double standards? Come on, it is 2017, you should be used to hear this kind of music on the radio. And do you know that Lady Gaga just realised Dancing in Circles? :usrs:

Maybe it is just me (because I usually love messy bitches with brave carefree personalities and edgy looks), but I think Katy Perry is doing fine, she is trying something different and she just don't give a **** about other people missing the 'old Katy'.

Now I am really interested to hear the new album. Can't wait. She made me hyped.

Ur opinions?

Some **** she did isn't 100% okay but also she's getting wayyyyyyyyyyyy too much hate. we dont need a thread on every outfit she wears detailing the life history of the designer and looking for a reason to drag her. It's just too much. Give the girl a break.

That said, maybe she should just apologize and recognize the mess lately and try to do better and we should all move on. I don't think we should let her completely off the hook. But I do feel bad for her right now.

Idk I kinda like her music and I love how she supports Gaga and everything but I can't handle her ego. She's the female Ed Sheeran in terms of chart obsession. A couple of flops is what she needs right now to ground her a bit.. Her comments about Britney and collaborating with homophobes is unforgivable tho :madge:

I don't agree with this at all. Ed Sheeran is not 'chart obssessed'. He makes personal songs with his own talents and songwriting that happen to be widely received by the masses. Katy on the other hand, engineers her craft towards the masses through multiple producers/ borrowed aesthetics from other artists and doesn't have any substance to call her own.

She's getting way too much hate but her recent music sucks, I love her past albums a lot and I can't believe she released that awful song with those rappers.

I mean I don't hate her or anything but Bon Appetit could have come out by any unknown artist in 2010 tbh

and I can't get over what a gigantic mess her promo has been :trollga:

I think the excessive hate is a bit OTT, so I agree with you on that.

Her hair remark was dumb, it was a joke that didn't really make sense and fell flat because of it. Considering she clearly doesn't like Trump and supported Obama and Hillary, it makes sense that she misses Obama too. I just don't think the joke was well thought out, but whatever - people make stupid jokes sometimes.

Posting the NYT article like "All the news that's fit to print" was also dumb - mostly because sarcasm is hard to read in text - but I mean, I'm pretty sure it was sarcastic... I read it as a criticism of the NYT front page. The post should have been more clear to avoid misinterpretation, but I don't think it's super fair to act like it was a serious comment.

With that said, I don't like Bon Appetite and I like Dancing In Circles... I don't think that's a double standard either  They are totally different songs that sound totally different... I wouldn't be so quick to blame it on Gaga stans just hating on it for fun either, the song hasn't really been received well. It just doesn't have any strong hook, it's not the shameless pop fluff Katy is known for and frankly good at  I haven't really ever been into a Katy Perry song that strays from her formula.

That's why he released Cheap Thrills 2.0:trollga:

She is a grown ass woman who needs to understand that her actions have consequences. Additionally, she is so unoriginal and mean that I can't relate to anything she has ever done.

Katy needs to stop seeking attention.

I just wanted to make the point that both songs are about sex. People are acting like only Katy Perry makes music like that.

I like Bone Appetit. I still listen to some of her OoTB and TD songs. She'll be fine I hope

I haven't personally seen that tbh, I'm sure you could find some quotes - but I would think that those people would be a very small minority of people.

Gaga has written about sex her entire career, sex is a popular topic in pop music, it would be a weird criticism in general really.
