this kind of makes me sad

Me too !! I love to see how many times I've played the song and I love to have them downloaded in my phone. It's so much more comfortable. I really dislike this whole streaming era. Feels so empty , calculated and manipulated.

how much money does an artist/label gain from one stream? Taylor swift hates Spotify because she said they don't pay enough to artists:poot:

But not everybody likes to stream :awkney:

Seriously though, what happened to going to the store and buying a CD or even a record. There's no fun in just buying a single and barely listening to the whole song, which is what most people my age (17) do :/

I guess its ok as long as I can download and not use my data...

Australia's data plans are dark and full of terrors!!!

So Itunes and Apple Music are going to be the same thing?

Basically yes, they're going merge it. Makes sense from a business point of view.

The music industry is in such a bad shape right now...frightening !

This is okay for huge artists who know there will be people interested in paying to see them live but what about the small, independant artists ? They were worth so little already, it's gonna be even worse for them

I still use iTunes only because I have an older iPod lol.

Don't wanna switch to streaming completely tho even if it is the future.

And I am still faithful to Itunes. I don't stream songs (sorry/not sorry- not that my streams would matter that much as I don't live either in the UK or the USA) , I love purchasing them and having them in my cell phone :) Today I've just bought "Despacito" and "There's Nothing Holding Me Back" and this way you really demonstrate you like a particular song by showing an interest in it.

I also bought "The Cure" the minute they dropped it and I WILL ALWAYS BUY GAGA'S MUSIC because I want to support her this way as well ;)

What does this mean for smaller indie artists though?

A couple years ago they could regularly chart fairly high, but if everything will be based on streaming, wouldn't they be outdominated?
