I know but I was still wondering what could happen if iTunes got killed. Bc, like the OP said, it is possible for the future. Maybe not in the next two years tho but maybe five

It's not profitable for them. And Apple is only driven by profit. Maybe they'll just get rid of the iTunes store and instead have the option to digitally download built into Apple Music. I just don't see digital downloads evaporating completely, in the same way that CDs and vinyls didn't magically disappear from the face of the earth when their successor was introduced. Another older article "It's not a question of if but when": http://www.businessinsider.de/report-apple-to-kill-itunes-downloads-2016-5?r=US&IR=T 2 more years seems like a reasonable deadline IMO. I can't imagine them keeping iTunes on life support much longer than that.
Panchecco 17,705
in a few years music won't probably even be sold anymore we'll just stream everything and artists will get money only from streams, tours and performances

Since I have Apple Music, I don't use iTunes anymore. I just save my fave songs on my device and can hear them offline anytime. That's how it'll work. Kalinda 1,130
Digital downloads are in freefall while streaming keeps growing (in fact, streaming was the biggest source of revenue for the US music industry last year, overtaking the combined revenue from physical & digital sales), I can definitely see Apple deciding that it's not worth it to keep it around much longer. 10 minutes ago, The Fame Joanne said: And if that would be the case, what would happen with the music I bought? Would everything stay the same? Yeah. Your purchased music is DRM-free and not locked into iTunes or anything. I imagine they'll also keep an option around to download your purchased music again. Yes, for example I still bought the Joanne CD. That's something else, it's an object you can collect, read and feel the booklet etc. But digital downloads are disposable.
