Gaga Monster 13,001
“(President Xi) then went into the history of China and Korea. Not North Korea, Korea. And you know, you’re talking about thousands of years . . . and many wars. And Korea actually used to be a part of China. And after listening for 10 minutes, I realized that it’s not so easy.” A History Professor: “No respectable historian would make such a claim,” said Kyung Moon Hwang, a history professor at the University of Southern California and author of A History of Korea, when I asked him via email to assess Trump’s statement.https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/fact-checker/wp/2017/04/19/trumps-claim-that-korea-actually-used-to-be-a-part-of-china/?utm_term=.1ffb465ce9b5 GGD Presidential Elections
Gaga Monster 13,001
President Xi of China did not say that Korea was part of China and the fact that he made up he said that is very troubling. He is old and I understand that his memory is a little foggy especially when you work hours a day and you are over 70, but he can not make mistakes like this. Easy 5,319
It's actually true tho. Back in the days (like thousands of years ago) Korea was a part of China. But it has nothing to do with the modern world so idk why Trump mentioned. Edit: Just googled a little, Korea became a "kingdom" at around Ming Dynasty, before that its kind of a part of China but since it's too far away from the emperor, they never really developed it. Idk how to express but I read several Google sources + used my memory of my History classes. It has something to do with Japan+ Korea war and Ming dynasty emperor and all that stuff. Spoiler I'm not good in history so the thousands years part you guys might need some fact check.
Envi 765
Trump's standard since day one is alternative facts. This is nothing new and expected. Me and the rest of the planet are used to this. ♫ ♫ ♫ ♫ ♫ ♫

There were China’s vassal states in the Korean Peninsula. However, Chinese Emperors do not rule vassal states directly. Those countries stand on their own feet and administrate themselves. So, they are different to provinces which are parts of China. There may be some exceptions. But, generally, Korea is distinct enough from Chinese provinces. Yes, China had controlled the most northern part, a small portion, of the Korean Peninsula in some dynasties, because that region is most vulnerable to China’s influences. But the mountainous peninsula has made it almost impossible for China to take all. GGD Presidential Elections

But I'm pretty sure I heard in my history class that at some point China has control over its vassal states but generally the "kings" of these states simply don't care. I'm flop anyway so if I was wrong I apologise in advance.

Thousands of years ago.....well, this would also applies to majority of modern countries today: there were used to be part of a bigger country or empire, or some of them weren't fully established, just some random small communities or civilization. ♫ ♫ ♫ ♫ ♫ ♫

I need to do a fact check before the world thinks that I have same IQ level with Trump. Spoiler Really lucky China hasn't ban my internet yet so I can still fact check with Google instead of censored Baidu.
