Does everyone hate Joanne all of a sudden?

I can't help but cringe when I am seeing people type that The Cure is "Fresh" and "new sounding" though. I mean, like it all you want...but it is not fresh sounding at all, it fits right in with radio pop right now. There is nothing wrong with that necessarily, but to pretend this is some breath of fresh air on the radio is misleading. It's the Emperors New Clothes.

Honestly, if I were listening to the radio and The Cure came on, I would have just changed it immediately because it sounds just like any other pop song on the radio right now -- and pop music is not in such a good place right now. I can't think of any other song produced by Gaga that I would remotely use the word "generic" on. It's really disappointing. That said, she can make whatever the **** kind of music she wants, more power to her. We all grow apart and then back together, and apart. It's ok. I just don't dig it.

I personally hate the Pop/Radio - sound that`s currently being played... That´s why I felt Joanne as a whole sounded really refreshing, as it didn`t hop on "the current trend train"

I don't hate Joanne, it's still a very very good album, my problem with it is that it's not "GaGa". The Cure is her typical synth pop sound that I LOVE!

I still like Joanne, it was never my fav album but it was really good and I still enjoy and appreciate the music on it. It's a really good album and I can't wait to see it's tour.

The Cure is just more my style. I

I think we are just excited that we have Pop-BangerGa back for song, maybe an EP, who knows. But Joanne is still a great album, this is just a nice change of pace so were ready to roll with this for a while. I think also since the last 5 months has been just MR without a third single, we were starting to get a little bored...

I feel like it's comparing apples and oranges. Joanne is a body of work that Gaga wanted to create, and I think it adds heavily to her integrity as an artist. It sold 200,000+ album-equivalent copies in its first week, and if that isn't a commercial success – especially in the age of streaming – then I don't know what is. Half a billion streams and two Top 20 hits, I definitely think that for an album that is largely out of step with what's popular right now, it did very well.

The Cure, meanwhile, is a one-off (as far as we can tell at the moment, maybe it'll be on an EP in the future) song that appears to have been made with the Coachella crowd and GP in mind. It's nothing groundbreaking, but the clearly isn't what she was going for. I don't understand these posts that call it trashy and not true to who Gaga is – I'm sorry, did I miss something?

Just Dance is about getting shitfaced. Poker Face is about sex. Born This Way is a generic love-yourself song. How is The Cure any less groundbreaking lyrically than her 3 #1s are? 

Anyway, I don't think necessarily hate Joanne now, I think it's just a break with what Joanne is and what The Cure is.

I've hated it since the amazon leaks, and I have no shame in admitting that. Just because I love gaga doesn't mean I'm going to love every single thing she does (and I havent) but dammit I've been waiting for 6 years for gaga to once again pander to my musical tastes and she finally has again with The Cure and I'm going to relish. 

Yall had 7+ months to enjoy joanne, while some of us thought we'd have to wait another 3+ years for an album that may or may not be our tastes.

yas i do remember lol, there were a lot of ppl melting down tbh, this fandom was 50% against it lol, i even got banned for 3 months for speaking my mind about it lol
