The problem is, I don't like the mainstream right now. I have a broad musical taste, but I guess Gaga's taste is even broader than mine, because I just can't get into this tropical sound. Define "proper melody". The melody of ARTPOP sounds fine to me. But the melody is not what I dislike about The Cure. It's the sound. You know those sounds the song opens with, combined with snaps. Gaya has always taken genres and then fused it into her music, her own creativity and vocal performance. There was an authenticity to that, and you knew it was Gaga. In both cases, it is the sound which destroys the song for me, not the song itself. That opening guitar sound in Perfect Illusion makes me cringe, every bit as much as the tropical sound on The Cure. I love it and was so excited then came on gagadaily just to see little monsters to basically ruin the fun and complain... as 4 ARTPOP, the song has no melody to me, it's not memorable especially for an album titled track but that's a whole other debate/story! The way I see it, everyone is just giving their opinion. Some people like it, some people don't. That's the way it is with every song of hers, except the few songs which are loved by everyone.
