Four passengers on a flight scheduled from Chicago to Louisville were asked to take a flight the following day so United employees could take the seats in order to arrive in Kentucky in time for their next flights, Courier-Journal.com said. The woman who shot the video, Audra D. Bridges, said United offered passengers $400 and a free night in a hotel to take a flight at 3 p.m. Monday. When no one said yes, the airline doubled the offer to $800. Again, no one accepted the deal. Then, United said a computer would randomly choose which passengers had to depart the already-boarded flight. Two gave up their seats willingly, but another passenger, a man who said he was a doctor, would not give up his seat when asked to leave the flight. The video shows him being approached by security, tossed against a metal armrest and then pulled from his seat and and dragged down the aisle as he screamed and other passengers looked on in horror. The bloodied, disoriented man was eventually allowed to re-board flight 3411, which took off O'Hare International Airport two hours behind schedule. The man was unwilling to give up his seat because he had patients to see in the Louisville-area early Monday. I don't know why but this really affected me deeply. Look at how they drag that man . I feel so bad and upset for him. This is just wrong on all levels. I can't imagine how humiliated he must have felt. He bled from the physical dragging and he had pateints to attend to early Monday that's why he couldn't give up his seat. So putting aside the humiliation and physical injuries, you could be putting so many other people in harms way. Their mistake, yet, they assault and drag him off the plane. Not overbook flights so much? 2. Find flight attendants elsewhere? 3. Delay the other flight? 4. Hire better managers? 5. Have emergency flight attendants if they can't manage better? 6. Offer more money until someone accepts because they overbooked a flight and there is no excuse for that in this day and age? 7. ????????????? Literally anything else? What is wrong with you? He had patients to attend to. He paid for that flight just like every other passenger on that plane and it was unfair to drag him off like that. I agree with all of those points and I don't agree with what they did to this guy i was just pointing out that it was completely avoidable did he think they would just be like 'ok fine' if he refused to leave? common sense tells you they will bring in the cops to drag you out.. You would think after Continental and United merged they would know how to better manage their airline, I've heard poor reviews about the new United. JustinTrudeau 2,419 Posted April 10, 2017 Share Posted April 10, 2017 Airlines overbook flights by ~10% on purpose in case people don't show up, and they almost always do that. In rare cases, that backfires on them. What they should have done is pick someone else to take off the flight since the doctor needs to be on the first plane. Even if they need to take him off the plane, they shouldn't have to drag him like a facking teddy bear. I fell down the stairs once as an actor.
