Troy Carter talks Lady Gaga

Troy is 100% a better manager commercially for Gaga. He made her into a star and brought her singles to hits. He knows how to promote and make hits.

Bobby is a better person for Gaga because he is understanding and doesn't have her do things she doesn't want to do. Bobby has no idea how to manage a pop star as you can see with the PI era. He got lucky she was doing the Super Bowl because without it this era would have been a huge flop.

GaGa wouldn't be here if it weren't for Troy. He gave her the success, and I thank him for that. We need him and RedOne back.

Lace up my boots, throw on some leather and cruise.

I disagree. I think it's important to be able to separate business decisions from personal feelings/relationships. Someone may be your enemy in the boardroom and your best friend in life--and if you aren't able to separate that, it all goes down in flames. Ultimate I think both Gaga and Troy were unprofessional in allowing themselves to form a personal relationship that interfered with their business relationship.

You have a point. I just think it's not that easy to spend so much time together and not end up becoming friends. And ultimately if you know your client is going through a rough time, would u let go of their hand the moment they needed you the most? I don't know. It was a messy break up. But I see what u mean, I just see it a different way :)

i think u freaky but you don't have a hit

Everyone here dislikes him because of the way he abandoned her when she lost her shine, not because he was a bad manager.

He was an EXCEPTIONAL manager and business man..just not right for Gaga or for artists in general. In business you need to seperate personal and professional but what do you do when personal and professional go hand in hand? A.k.a art. Singers are trapped in a weird mix of personal creation that becomes business and money. Their art is personal yet commertialized and made into capital. Ideally Troye should never work with artists. Artists require a personal touch even in their professional managemnt team. I say this because lets not act like Gaga is not complicated to work with. She is a person who is highly emotional and changes her ideas in a blink of an eye which is hard to manage. All in all Troye did his best in making her a star. He saw her as a product that he can elevate and he did but he missed the human touch that an artist like Gaga requires (or that all artists require). I dont blame no one in their falling out. Both are at fault as far as im concerned. And now both are on to better things. Gaga is comfortable sustaining enough success...not massive but enough for her to not be forgotten and Troye is an early investor in Spotify and is probably making coins. Water under the bridge.

He's an exceptional businessman, he was an early investor in Uber, Spotify, and Dropbox. He has a good business sense, but perhaps that wasn't what you needed when you dealt with an emotional person.

Okay I get appreciating her past team's work and contributions because I will always praise Laurieann's choreography for example, but it's baffling to me as a fan why you would want someone that hurt Gaga back into her life. 🤔

You guys are idiots if you think Just Dance and Pokerface became hits because of this guy. If he was a good manager, he could've kept the momentum going longer than 2 albums. Terrible. He needed Gaga, and dumped her when she lost some popularity.

Interesting! I agree with some people here about the power and smartness Troy has business wise. Bobby really cares about Gaga, so she gets the way she wants, which is always good. But I bet Gaga would still be top 5 pop girl do this day still... Or at least the chances to get her up again would be very high if they worked together again.

We will see what the future will bring.

I doubt the intelligence of anyone who blames Troy for Gaga's PTSD, which she said was caused by the rape and not by Troy as some have claimed. Also it's not a manager's job to look after the health of an artist. In my opinion, Gaga lacked discipline in those days in regards to her health. It is an artists responsibility to maintain their health. Especially an artist on a 100 date tour with heavy choreography. Look at Madonna for example, she's almost 60 for christ's sake. You don't see her drinking, smoking dope and doing drugs on tour and then breaking her hip because she hasn't maintained her physical fitness and gotten fat whilst on a massive world tour. No, Madonna continues to train daily whilst maintaining an extremely healthy nutritional regime. The MDNA Tour was on the road at the same time as the BTWB and featured a similar amount of dates and more demanding choreography. She went straight from the Super Bowl into tour rehearsals and then into a massive world tour. She was totally exhausted but she completed it at 53 and with hip intact as well. Her manager Guy Oseary works her very hard just like Troy did with Gaga and is a successful businessman in his own right who invests in various start ups and also manages other artists. So you see, it's not all Troy's fault, the artist has a responsibility as well and a responsibility to say no to things. Madonna has often said she and Guy butt heads frequently because he wishes she would be available to promote her album's more but she has four kids and other interests now and can't maintain her pop career quite like she used to. It takes two to tango and it takes communication, compromise and maturity to make a partnership work which clearly is what was lacking from Gaga and Troy's professional relationship. They are both responsible for burning her out and they are both responsible for the career decisions that resulted in the erosion of her popularity.

I honestly think that Lady Gaga is quite problematic but she knows how to keep that innocent, bad treated pop star image.

An awful lot of people have abandoned her and I don't think that's a coincidence, that's why she exclusively wants her friends around. The only reason why her old team and old colleagues are quiet about it, is because they are avoiding the court.

Exactly. Gaga was a sleeper success, not an overnight success. Troy had nothing to with it. He was just there. He could've been anyone. The best thing he did was let her do her own thing. And like you said, if he was really a good manager he would'nt have jumped ship the moment she started to lose popularity. He left her when she needed him the most.

Something tells me he will be talking about Gaga for the rest of his life.

You're delusional and ignoring many other logical arguments that have been presented in this thread.

Stop posting if you're going to be constantly negative towards her. If you want to talk about how great you think Troy is, go to a fan site for him instead.
