Cry Baby goes Platinum, new album not coming before December

This interview is 2 weeks old but apparently nobody made a thread about it and as there are some Melanie fans on here, I decided to post . In it, Melanie didn't reveal her second album's title but gave some interesting details about it, including the number of tracks it'll have and a Donald Trump-inspired character. Here are the most important things she said:

G1 - Your disc has many sounds that look like toys, which you said inspire you. Are they toys from your childhood?

Melanie Martinez - Not necessarily. In fact, I had never worked with producers, I was always writing songs on the guitar by myself. So when I started to have producers, to be able to create different sounds, it was very inspiring.And then I went after these sounds of toys, bells, clocks. Besides sound, they have the visual possibilities as well.For the next record, I'm going to put together some kind of film.

G1 - What kind of movie?

Melanie Martinez - I can not tell you everything, but it's a mixture of terror and drama.

G1 - And on your second disc will you continue to use the 'Cry Baby' character or will it be a different universe?

Melanie Martinez - The album is ready. Now I'm working with the visual part script, which is going to give me a lot of work - all year long, probably. And I still have to finish the deluxe tracks. But the album itself, part of the songs, is ready. It has 13 tracks and, as I said, tells a story from start to finish.

It's still from Crybaby's point of view (character from the first album). [...] I think at least on the next albums, I'll get that perspective on her. I want to have a continuous story. But now in the second it will be in a specific place of a city. And also introduce new characters, and talk about many subjects that I did not address before.

G1 - And when is it ready?

Melanie Martinez - It's difficult, because whenever I mark it, it ends up being postponed. But I'm not going to start telling you this story before December, I guess.

G1 - What will be the title?

Melanie Martinez - I can not tell, but I already say it's about growth. It's Crybaby growing up.

G1 - Your family is of Latin origin, like mine. What was your first reaction when you saw that Donald Trump had been elected?

Melanie Martinez - I cried, I cried. And I still cry! It's hard to talk about the things he stands for. It seems common sense not to vote for someone like him. It's that simple. It scares me. It is scary. We will have to work hard to help heal each other in times like this.

EDIT: In addition to all this, Cry Baby was certified Platinum this month with nearly 300,000 copies sold in the US and 575M streams even with no radio support, becoming one of the 8 debut albums released in 2015 to reach this milestone. The album debuted at #6 on Billboard and has spent more than 80 weeks on the chart.

I hate when artists have to tell us like... we're not stupid  It takes away the charm of the metaphor, allusion etc.

I'm super hyped too. There have been a lot of hints from various places that it's going to be about the school in Cry Baby's town, and I have a feeling that each song is going to focus on a different school year from kindergarten to senior year and graduation. Just my two cents.
