People do what they want to do, they give up what works for them and ignore the inconvenient truth. People want what they want. You aren't any different from that basic rule.

I didn't KNOW anything about electronics, and I am now researching where to buy my clothes. I didn't make this thread to pretend I'm better than anybody, it was just to reach out to people about this specific topic. There are a lot of issues in the world, and a lot I need to learn about and change within my own lifestyle. I am not educated on electronics and where they come from, you pointed it out to me, and now I can start researching them. Luckily I don't buy brand new ones very often anyways. 

I still don't see why this means veganism isn't important to talk about? And just because I make mistakes as a consumer, and so does everyone around me, should I keep ignoring it and never change? I'm not understanding what your point is? 

What you quoted does not apply to me buying electronics, like I said, I was ignorant. Now that I can research it, I can change. Are you?

I know what I am talking about since I regularly work on a small farm on the countryside. And yes, I do know that mass animal husbandry is absolutely necessary to maintain the economy and to feed everybody. But again, as one can see in "Unser Täglich Brot" it does not have to be like in the Belgian slaughterhouse.

It's not necessary to do either of those things. People want it, but it's not necessary.

A second hand market for electronics, and paying for cell phone services, still supports child and slave labor. You have to stop buying and using these products to pull your support from companies that support inhuman practices. 

Do you research where all your fruits and vegetables come from? Chances are that slave labor in inhuman conditions are being used for your fruits and veggies. The only way to really get around this issue is to grow all of your fruits, veggies and herbs yourself...and never go out to eat. Is it really "easy" to be a vegetarian in this respect.

I didn't make a thread claiming to be better than others because I abstained from certain foods. I'm not being blind or hypocritical, as I own that I purchase, buy and do things that contribute to some kind of abuse somewhere in the world.

We shouldn't force anyone to/not to eat something or judge people by their diet.. changing nutrition habits is not that easy, but I would suggest to reduce the consumption of meat, not just for the sake of the planet but firstly for yourself, since it's a fact eating meat too often is unhealthy, especially the red and processed one. Same as industrial food, which is full of (carcinogenic) preservatives and trans fats (linked to obesity, diabetes, heart and degenerative diseases).

Just recently? Then you more than likely have clothes from the child slave mills? 

If you use electronic devices, chances are great that children as young as five or six are involved in working twelve hour days for your conveniences. Laborers are dying everyday so that you can have your cell phone. If you cared about these children and human beings, you would stop buying and using cell phones or laptops. You support these deaths when you use your cell phone. 

I always wonder why some intelligent non-vegans so often equate caring about ALL sentient beings with not caring about humans.

I'll look into electronics.

And yes I look into where I get my food, I buy mostly locally for produce. Chances are they are not slave labour because most of it comes from Ontario for me.

I don't think this video had the purpose of promoting veganism, but actually calling people's attention to what is happening inside of slaughterhouses. I'm not going to stop eating meat because of this, and neither are many people, it's the food chain. What we need to do is fight slaughterhouses who do this, even if that means shutting them down completely. I know (or at least have the faith) that there must be some that actually care for the animals, and treat them with dignity. There is no reason to make an animal suffer before killing them. There should be a entity that controls 24/7 slaughterhouses, and I don't mean surprise visits (which are never a surprise) where the slaughterhouses look like a magical land where everyone, including the animals, are happy.

Hey, if it applies, it applies.

The issue here isn't that someone decides to be Vegan, that's their decision and right...the issue is that this particular Vegan wants to shame others for not doing so. It's a choice, not a mandate. 

By the way, how do you know if I'm a Vegan or not at this time...or where I get my food sources from?
