Benji 20,113 Posted March 21, 2017 Share Posted March 21, 2017 Either some sort of large attack has been flagged and the US and the UK are making extreme moves to stop it... or we just wanna keep the US sweet and be on their side with some of their moves to keep our "special relationship" throughout Trump and Brexit I'm wondering if any where else in Europe is going to make a move like this, it will basically confirm if it is indeed a threat or a show of solidarity with the US. The Malaysia air crash could be explained by something like this... and you know the uk, it wouldn't just use this as a pr stunt like Trump would. i say if the UK has implemented it, it must be for a real reason of security. listen, im all for it. The restrictions, which also apply to tablets, DVD players and phones over a certain size, follow a similar US ban affecting eight countries. Downing Street said they followed talks on air security and were "necessary, effective and proportionate". US officials said bombs could be hidden in a series of devices. The six affected UK carriers are: British Airways EasyJet Jet2.com Monarch Thomas Cook Thomson The eight overseas airlines subject to the ban are: Turkish Airlines Pegasus Airways Atlas-Global Airlines Middle East Airlines Egyptair Royal Jordanian, Tunis Air Saudia A UK government spokesperson said: "Decisions to make changes to our aviation security regime are never taken lightly. No, you can still take them on the plane, you're just not allowed to have these items in your "hand baggage" - basically, you can't carry these items on yourself and be able to interact with them during the flight if you are flying from one of the countries outlined.
