Negotiation. Nicola will negotiate our terms with the E.U. Both the £ and the Euro have dropped in value so both currencies arent that strong.

You won't be able to negotiate a new Euro opt-out.

It wont considering that May is going for a hard Brexit, and cares sh*t all about Scotlands interest

This is why the House of Lords should be replaced by something which allows a representation of the regions of the UK (dividing England up, naturally) so that the UK Government can't just ignore certain MPs because they aren't in their party/can't ignore certain areas because they'll never vote for them anyway

I wanna stay in the EU so badly :/

I don't rly get this logic tbh. How does leaving our most beneficial union solve the problem of being forced out of a beneficial union. Sturgeon is playing the world's unstable state to get her way and its shooting us in the foot. I'm terrified. The EU will never match the benefits we get from being a member of the UK. Scotland can kiss goodbye to ever being treated a major country ever again.

Sturgeon is being so opportunistic with this and she knows fine that everybody is uninformed and extremism politics is taking the forefront right now... Europe is so unstable and is being held up by a single point of failure which is Germany, if Germany ever has enough then Europe will collapse and so will every member state economy.

If something bad was to ever happen to the global economy Scotland can pull through with the UK, its such a major country and will last, Scotland will be such a tiny tiny unsustainable country on its own and people are forgetting just how dumb this is just because we're leaving the EU.

The UK can get some sort of decent trade on its own, though not ideal at all, but this is still so much better than Scotland trying to forge trade deals.

We'll see.

There is too much negativity around IndyRef2. (like below)

OUR most beneficial union was the EUROPEAN Union, and we are being dragged out against our will. The government dont care about Scotland's interest. The leader of any country should and always respect the will of the people. In Our case, 62% of us voted to remain in the EU. Nicola has therefore got to do her best for Scotland to remain part of the E.U. The UK steals our whiskey and brands it as British whiskey, takes our imports, renews Tridents, makes decisions for our country which are not needed and pretty much ripps us off. We have a government which we didnt even vote for

The 'precious union' is not UK.

You won't. The UK only has one because it was part of the European Communities before it transformed into the EUropean Union and adopted the Euro. The UK opposed the Euro and so they were told they wouldn't be obliged to join (you can thank Scottish former PM Gordon Brown for that!). This opt-out is not available to new members. Accession requirements/deals are much more set in stone than treaty negotiations.

And regardless, if you're willing to leave the UK in favour of the European Union, shouldn't you want to commit 100% to the European project?

Welp this is what us Remainers feared, Brexit wouldn't just lead to our leaving the EU but also the break up of our country :( This + what's going on in NI is very worrying

Obviously I hope Scotland ends up staying, but I don't blame Nicola

The UK and the EU are both as terrible for our governments as each other. The EU forces laws on its members that they didn't vote for and you're forced to comply with them, this was a main talking point for the UK leaving the EU and is a main talking point for Scotland leaving the UK.

The whiskey thing is.. not true? Scottish whiskey companies can sell whiskey and brand it as they please.. the government has no intervention.

Trident is a source of jobs, tens of thousands of jobs would be lost if Trident was not renewed, and for what? To make a political statement about peace? Getting rid of nuclear deterrent has little benefit other than making a statement, but thats another topic.

The UK provides Scotland with pretty much all of its money, Scotland has no substantiative unique trade that it can offer for a mutual benefit relationship with other countries, this is why being part of the major union that is the UK is so beneficial to us. Places like London are a powerhouse for the entire nations economy.

The EU don't just hand out free money to its member countries, we will struggle even as a member of the EU. The reasons you want to leave the UK are identical to the reasons people want to leave the EU.

Trident has no purpose.

It doesnt, in fact we provide the UK with money.

The E.U is simply better, Scotland will be better of in it without the rest of the UK

Are you really comparing Scotland/the UK to North Korea? :toofunny: NK has no allies who would defend them if attacked. The UK has 28 NATO allies.

If you're going for the approach of having nukes in Scotland is unsafe because we're a target you're missing the mark. If any country gets nuked its instant armageddon and will be an extinction level event, so unarming Scotland and losing all these jobs is useless if NK just nukes literally any other armed country in the world that wont unarm themselves (like the US).

Scotland gets more money from the UK than it puts back into the UK's economy through tax revenue, some could argue the amount of money the UK gives to scotland in relation to how much it gives back is unfair. 2012 figures actually show the scottish population actually gets 10% more spent on them per person than any other country in the UK.

In the EU we wont enjoy a system where there are countries sharing money with each other and getting large budgets and sharing trade money, we will have to form our own trade deals (based on what? We have nothing of value to sell... no oil.. no nothing...) we have no powerhouse business in Scotland, there are basrely any major corps or business hubs based here.

This will only expand on the powers of the Scottish government which pretty much only benefits the government itself... how are they going to improve on our lives if they can't afford to?

I didnt compare them. Look at the kill zone - most of Scotland would be wiped out. Would you want this in your country? I want it OUT, and in an independent Scotland we would have the power to do so
