This might look very similar to my Sinner's Prayer theory but I've had some new revelations and needed to get them down

It's the Tuesday after Gaga wins her Golden Globe, and we find out that Gaga is "parting ways" with her talent agency, WME, and signing with Creative Artists Agency (CAA). CAA now reps Gaga "across all areas, including touring, commercial endorsements, film and television". 

And who is Gaga's new talent agent?

Flash forward to a little more than a month later. It's Oscar Weekend (Feb 27/28th).

Everything seems fine and dandy for Taylor and Gagz

March 6, 2016 (one year ago today )

Gaga does the polar plunge with Taylor for Charity

It's right after this instagram post that I believe the relationship begins to go downhill and Joanne (as we know it) takes shape.

Gaga posts this quote from anandastrology.com on March 7, 2016 (the next day). 

"Sift through the heavy baggage you may have been carting around...and let it go"

"Liberate you from the shackles [...] if you are willing to cut the cords"

Just before this picture we get (what I believe is) the first picture of Gaga wearing a cowboy hat in the pre-Joanne era. I get this sense that Gaga wears her cowboy hats whenever she starts feeling vulnerable and maybe a bit unsure of herself.

So to review:

February 27/28th: 'Taylor has always stood by me...I love him'

One week later, March 6/7th: 'It's time to sift through my heavy baggage and cut some cords'

Clearly something went very wrong during that week

My Sinner's Prayer theory kicks in immediately after that  I initially wrote it with the idea that Taylor had done something to shake Gaga's trust in him, but now I'm beginning to look at it differently.

I'm starting to think it was the other way around: Gaga was emotionally unfaithful to Taylor.

First verse: Gaga is sick and tired of this relationship. Her parents are excited for her upcoming wedding; her fans are fawning over her seemingly perfect relationship; Taylor gives her all the love and attention she could ever want. But she feels STUCK. This isn't what she wants, and she knows it, but she can't tell anyone. So she represses the feeling and keeps it moving.

And then she meets Christian Carino in January and starts developing intense feelings for him. It feels wrong, but she can't fight it. The minute she gives in, all of the doubts she had about her engagement just come flying out of her Pandora's box. On top of all of this, she had to publicly confront/discuss/come to terms with her sexual assault while promoting TIHTY during Oscar season, AND her childhood idol David Bowie passed away. This all makes for a very cathartic and emotionally chaotic few months for Gaga. 

It's time to sift through the heavy baggage; cut some cords; leave herself some room to discover something new. A period of deep self-reflection is what leads to the quote she posts on March 7, one week after the Oscars.

After thinking it through, she tells her Dad at the 'feast' that the engagement is off. Her Dad blames it all on Taylor immediately and she just nods her head and plays along. The guilt makes her feel like a little red devil.

So she gets on her knees and begs Taylor for forgiveness in the chorus. "Please, hear me out, I beg you. This is who I am: a flawed human being who made the mistake of throwing your love away. I f*cked up and I'm sorry. This apology may not sound pretty but it comes from the heart (it's as good as gold)"

Second verse: I said in my theory that Gaga's sister was her character foil, but now I think it's the other way around. Taylor is Gaga's sister, and Gaga's sister's boyfriend is Gaga 

[Taylor] is in too deep; his love for Gaga isn't cheap but it breaks like a knockoff piece. [Gaga] has a gift for getting what she wants. She gets on the brink and throws Taylor off/takes advantage of him. 

"I am just like my sister's boyfriend; I am hurting you the same way she was hurt and I feel f*cking awful, so I get on my knees and beg you, hear my sinner's prayer"

...and last but not least, I now think the bridge is Taylor speaking, after hearing Gaga's apology:

"I can carry you, but not your ghosts; Wish I had the faith, but I don't know"

EDIT: or it's just Gaga saying "I have my  problems, but you have your problems too. This is not all my fault"

TL;DR: Gaga meets Christian Carino and develops feelings for him. Feels conflicted. Bowie passes away. TIHTY happens. Realizes through all of this that she isn't being true to herself. Breaks up with Taylor. Scraps her Nile Rodgers-Red One Joanne concept and starts a new one (i.e. the one we got): less mindless and shallow bops, more introspection/Mark Ronson.

I have no idea anymore what happened tbh. When I first heard sinners prayer I did think it was a song about her cheating though. It's all in the lyrics. It talks about HER not wanting to break his heart. Plus he always seemed to still want her because he still liked her pics on instagram all the time, followed her mom on twitter after the fact etc. I'm starting to think Gaga is the one that ended it tbh

Wow @ this analysis.

Yeah, I'd read some stuff that suggested that she wasn't completely committed to him, allegedly around the time after C2C tour ending/AHS filming. Plus, she forgot to mention him in her Golden Globe speech, Hilary Swank-style. 

I always thought it interesting that they really seemed tighter than ever right before we stopped seeing Taylor on her social media at all. Anyway, I love Sinner's Prayer. It feels so incredibly personal.

Love this theory  I don't think Taylor was so innocent in the relationship either tho. & every time I hear the lyrics " I can carry you but not your ghosts" I think of these pics  & how gaga talks about the men in her life always choosing a drink over her.

I sometimes think gaga has commitment issues lol and that line in Sinner's Prayer about her her sister being so in love and committed to a man is comparing herself to that and how she just isn't the type to "want nothing more than a man to please".

I think this theory makes sense, but I can't help but remember when Gaga sang Joanne to fans back in November 2016? She said that Taylor is still her love. I don't know if she would say that if she was the one who wanted to end thing.
