This is the **** that went down after about half the song played: Mom: Its like anyone can get their songs played on the radio now a days. (in a negative tone) Me: This is a good song Mom: It is? There are so many bad and untrained singers on the radio. Me: Lady Gaga doesn't have a bad voice Mom: This isn't Lady Gaga. Me: Yes it is. She went country Mom: Well she sounds terrible, she should go back to the city. This doesn't work for her. What kind go poor taste does my mom have? Honestly though, I can understand why people don't like Gaga's voice in MR. Her voice doesn't sound pure and perfectly in tune. Its almost grating in some parts, like the chorus (I don't really know how to explain it but Im sure you know what I'm talking about). I love the song and I think the unpolished vocals express Gaga's pain and gnawing desperation, almost like a cry for help. But people like my mom love perfect, clean sounding vocals so she probably could never appreciate any songs on Joanne. Trick her into listening to the mic feed on SNL. I'm not really sure why, I just think it sounds better when it's less polished - it sounds more soulful live and I'm not sure I like the way the guitar sounds in the studio version.
