With USA MR Radio Surge... Will Canada Pick Up Single???

Ok so up until ARTPOP Canada probably has the best over-all singles chart history in the world. Every single either charted the same as in the US or higher. Even her #1s were there longer than in the US

You and I was the only single to chart slightly lower than in the US but even so, it made it into the top 10 briefly

Now for some reason Canada has been paying dust to her this era. Radio refuses to play MR, its not even in the top 50 on pop radio despite having pretty good sales on itunes and having gone #1 like 3 times (and we dont have the discount here)

Will Canadian Radio finally pick up MR with the surge in US radio? After all our media is so interlinked. I wanna hear it on radio already so bad

I don't think so unfortunately. I know Canada and the US are joined by the hip and their charts look very similar but this is one hit that I think Canada has moved on from. They gave it support sales wise but radio has refused to touch it and now that the single is relatively old I don't think it will just magically hop on it anymore simply because the Us is giving the song a chance now. Some hits are made to be local I suppose :diane:

I think so. I mean it's becoming more popular everyday. They would have to play it at least a few more times to see if it could work :nails:

Its so dumb tho. It sold so well on itunes the first month and then after Victoria Secret and again after SB.

Also i know ppl like it cuz ive seen non-Gaga fans share it on FB plus ive heard it play in stores and restaurants even some bars

Yet not even top 50 on pop radio...

I REALLY dont get it tbh. :neyde:

same! the whole issue with radio around the world is ticking me off but yeah we can't really do anything more then what we've done at this point. let's just hope international radiosupports the next single or at least her next lead record :(

on the bright side though...the biggest market in the world is finally giving her another chance so let's cheer up! :kara:

Not really. Canada now has less top 10s than the US because of radio refusing to play it.

and we were doing so good up till Joanne era.

Even DWUW went #3 and MTN peaked at #11 and stayed in top 20 for a long time to give u an idea of comparing songs that kinda flopped in America

Ever since G.U.Y everything just went downhill here :air:

True. What does well in the US has a higher chance of doing well else where

are u from the US? Have u heard it on the radio much???

no :( I go there back and forth though but I'm not really the right person to ask but I think it is starting to do well. it is at 40M Audience right now and apparently will have another 1.5M radio audience today!

I'm from the US.  Yesterday I heard Bad Romance on radio.  Today I heard Poker Face.  No MR, tho.

I live outside the space time continuum.

What i meant was the fact that people seems to enjoy the song despite being ignored by the radio. In my country MR is #8 on the most popular music radio station in the country but nobody really pays attention to the song (at least that i know) because everyone is still boping to the same reggaeton type of songs :madge::awkney:

Its funny. Gaga was absolutely huge here first few years.

Here in Canada Gaga did better than Katy Perry singles wise. Before JoanneAlmost all her singles went top 3 or top 4 (four of them went #1 for a total of 20 weeks when combined)

only a few charted lower on top 10:

MTN just missed top 10 at #11

Judas #8

You And I #8

Ironically tho i rarely hear her old hits now tho. Rihanna on the other hand, I keep hearing "only girl", "disturbia" and "SOS" on the radio :neyde:

Radio doesnt seem to always do a good job of playing what ppl want

look at sales and even streaming charts then look at radio... some big disparities there

Love on The Brain by Rihanna is being rapped by radio yet its sales and streaming suck!

Now I love that song so im not complaining but its a good example
