The whole song has like 15 lyrics Green Light is complicated musically, has like 3 different amazing hooks with actually STRONG melodies and the lyrics are great. Also it's so cool how it starts as a sad-angry song and it becomes positive and hopeful

For now I can't really get into Lorde's new song, but you won't see me trashing it left and right on GGD, along with all the unnecessary and petty comparisons that come with it. bobbby 939
I've tried to listen to Green Light on mostly repeat and my stance on it changes literally each time. I just HATE HATE HATE the hook and the music sounds too Ed Sheeran meets Natasha Beddingfield.... I do love the rest of it though. I respect that she probably didn't want to be the goth-teen forever so she wanted to break more into pop, and it's a pretty decent song for that purpose. Used to be on here as broadwaybobby in TFM era
Dirtyicecreamz 1,754
nicee song! although i like the pre-chorus (w/the piano) more than i like the actual chorus! Stop the music, Start the drama.

StrawberryBlond 14,959
It's ok but I expected something so much more after all this time. I think the verses are quite good and the chorus is quite catchy. But the beat in the bridge and chorus is really dated and dire. Don't know why she thought this was a good beat, out of all the ones she could've chosen. Her new pop image might be a bit hit and miss as well. A lot of her fans may feel quite let down by this change of direction. It's like she's been hanging around Taylor Swift too long. I get it, she's grown up, she wants to change, but that's the problem with starting out your career when you're a teenager - any genuine musical change of heart later on is going to seem like a sell-out. It's why I'm against people getting record deals when they're still in school. You need to be a bit older than that to truly work out what kind of music you want to make so you don't jump around all over the place with genres and end up losing fans who liked your old style. PunkTheFunk 124,631
Listened again and it's growing on me ever so slightly I HATE that "and the sharks have teeth and they BITE you" section. Ruins the song tbh Pre-chorus and chorus are amazing. 3:05 to the end of the song is PERFECTION

The song is not really musically complicated. The chord progression is similar to many mainstream pop tunes. Having different hooks is nothing new or unarguably positive. Also "strong" is a subjective term when it comes to art.
