C, F, and other letters (A - G) are names given to certain frequencies, or notes. If you're wondering what happens when you reach a G and go up again, it's another A, this time an 'octave' higher (since it's 8 whole notes higher.) Mathematically speaking, notes in different octaves have different frequencies, but are multiples of each other by a factor of two.
