You need to work for the Winfrey campaign :ladyhaha:

That would literally be a dream come true.

Hopefully by then, though, I'm not still working on campaigns.

Working on presidential campaigns is a lot of fun, but it's really really hard, long, and thankless work.

I dedicated so many nights and weekends working for the Hillary campaign, so I know how emotionally taxing and unrewarding it can be :emma:

I'd love to get involved with her charity work though, she's such an inspiration.

I'm here for it, certainly more than Trump. At least Oprah, all of her problematic behavior and acts aside, inspired basically an entire generation of women and people all around the world

I was mostly kidding, but now that I think about it, she would have the money and the funding to actually outspend him :gum:

Good point. This is the similar case people made for Trump, however.

I'm reading comments about this online and people are already calling her "the female Obama" :rip:

"Out of touch celebrity liberal will guarantee Trump's win in 2020"

Imagine Winfrey vs. Trump in 2020. Endless entertainment.

The case would have made sense if Trump wasn't a clueless, lazy buffoon. I was never against a businessman running or one winning. I just would have wanted one that was intelligent and took the job of being the President seriously...someone who would do their homework, read and learn, and surround themselves with smart people that they would listen to. Instead we got someone who is using the job to pad his pocket, runs off to play golf every weekend, watches six hours of TV a day, is in bed with Russia and surrounded himself with racists and white nationalists.

"Out of touch celebrity" describes Trump to a T. How many days of his life did he spend in the real world with real people? He was born with a silver spoon in his mouth and made his fortune off of Daddy's money. Oprah was born into poverty in rural Mississippi to a teenage single mother and later raised in an inner-city Milwaukee neighborhood. She attended college on her own dime and worked her way up the ladder with hard work every step of the way.

Trump is a narcissistic troll and pathological liar. Oprah is a superstar...as a role model, a businesswoman and a philanthropist.

Well, maybe she can spend the next two years educating herself on government etc. and begin her campaign in 2019 with a fresh mind. That would be great.

I don't want another Trump. If she knows what she's talking about I'm here for it. I just don't want the presidency to be a reality show circus like this past election was. Where we have people with 0 knowledge yapping about stuff they have no clue about.

I don't want the liberal version of that, basically.

The liberal version of Trump is Kanye, not Oprah! :)

She is TWICE as wealthy as Trump, by his best estimates out there bc he doesn't actually release his tax returns lol

She could SO beat him, that idea excites me so much haha :giggle:

But he has the best people! And the best words! Believe me.

I'm all for it! She may be just what we need to defeat Trump.

Mm hmm :yay:

Plus she's smart enough to know she's inexperienced so she'll surround herself with competent and experienced individuals that'll guide her through making America sane again. She's not my first choice, far from it actually, but I would have no trouble voting for her :firega:

Well she's a very intelligent and compassionate woman. But I do believe the president should have other skills based around things like strategizing, and an in depth knowledge of how the entire political system works in the US. But your current president doesn't have any of those skills, nor the skills Oprah has... so I can understand the point she was making. But I guess that's what informants and the presidents teams are for. Helping them make an informed decision.

I don't think she is considering though, she's just saying that she never even imagined there was a possibility that she could even make it to that position, but has realised that it is more possible than once thought. Basically trowing subtle shade at Donald and how unqualified he is.

I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.

slowly but surely i think presidents will be like kings. figureheads while the real politicians do the dirty work behind the scenes.

this is really dangerous. are we going to reduce our leader to nothing but a glorified puppet of a political party? because if we keep electing celebs that is what congress will attempt to do eventually(i think). take away some of the president's power and disrupt the system of checks and balanced because one of the branches that weilds those checks is now incompetent in the arena of real politics

that being said, i think she definitely can win

Reminds me of this:

"The President is very much a figurehead - he wields no real power whatsoever. He is apparently chosen by the government, but the qualities he is required to display are not those of leadership but those of finely judged outrage. For this reason the President is always a controversial choice, always an infuriating but fascinating character. His job is not to wield power but to draw attention away from it.

An orange sash is what the President of the Galaxy traditionally wears.

On those criteria Zaphod Beeblebrox is one of the most successful Presidents the Galaxy has ever had. He spent two of his ten Presidential years in prison for fraud. Very very few people realize that the President and the Government have virtually no power at all, and of these very few people only six know whence ultimate political power is wielded. Most of the others secretly believe that the ultimate decision-making process is handled by a computer. They couldn't be more wrong."

-Douglas Adams, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
(emphasis and spoiler mine of course :hor:)

Was reminded of this after Trump's election as well.

Can she not? We can't make electing ****ing tv stars a thing. Our next democratic nominee has to be someone with a lot of experience, especially because they'll likely have to clean up the mess of Trump.

Someone like.....Elizabeth Warren...:firega:
