No one said that's what it was about. We didn't vote, The Academy did. But because they did win, and it's an important win, there's no reason to undermine their success. What's done is done, and it'll send a message out, whether you think it was deserved or not.

Literally every commentary is making it about that. There's no discussion on what film aspects made it the deserving win, it's "zomg diversity yay"

I didn't ask it to be centered but it was barely present.

I mean, it didn't have a big coming out scene or him proudly joining a pride parade at the end but what would you expect from it? The movie was about a man so guarded and inhibited that he couldn't muster words to carry a normal conversation and  only allowed to be touched once ( sexually).

The people from La La Land were almost done with their speeches and then Oscars producers finally came out frantically saying, "There's been a mistake, La La Land didn't win." I could not believe it, I was actually stunned. :cryga::toofunny:

Oh dear, how humiliating

I didn't realize the only dichotomy allowed for these types of stories is either near silence or leading gay pride parades.

He was for sure holding the Actress In A Leading Role envelope. Maybe they have a back up envelope for each category, and gave him the wrong one?

There's no doubting there were two of the same envelope now, but the question is WHY?!?! Why we're they given the wrong card? and how convenient that two older people were the ones chosen to give out the final award. Smells scandalous and I can't wait to watch this play out

OMFG THEY"RE LYING !!!!!!

EMMA WAS JUST INTERVIEWED AND SAID SHE HAD HER LEAD ACTRESS CARD IN HER HAND THE WHOLE TIME!!

they prob made two cards and did it for a publicity stunt

This was taken of the presenter on stage during the announcement with the wrong card in hand.

So they must have mistakenly printed off Emma's twice if indeed she had hers in hand.

No "lying" that you speak of going on tho..

its wasn't Warren and Fay's fault after all!

He was given the wrong envelope

It is his fault and theirs.

If the card said ACTRESS IN A LEADING ROLE EMMA STONE why the hell did he say BEST PICTURE LALA LAND. How dumb can you be?

And I didn't realize you need things to be spelled out in order to grasp a concept.
