The people from La La Land were almost done with their speeches and then Oscars producers finally came out frantically they were saying, "There's been a mistake, La La Land didn't win." I could not believe it, I was actually stunned. :cryga::toofunny:

nnnnn this is such a kii did they actually let them give speeches before they fixed it? :toofunny::toofunny::toofunny:

Happy for Moonlight. I haven't seen it, but from what I've read, it seems like a very deserving movie.

Everyone I know who has seen La La Land has described it as a very generic feel-good movie. Again, though, I haven't seen it either, so I can't make a call myself.

You know, you're actually right. It was about  time they showed on screen the budding romance between two white, beautiful people complete with L.A scenery and forgettable songs.

Once again that has no bearing on whether it was the better film or not, and LLL was the better film. Diversity is not a stand in for quality no matter how good the win makes us feel

I know that mixups happen and mistakes can be made, but these events are SO meticulously planned, and that's the biggest award of the night... hell, it's basically the biggest award of the YEAR for the movie industry. It's just so weird to me how there could be a slip up like that.

And,again, that's your opinion. I found the movie stale, cliche and was unimpressed with the songs and the way they sang them.

And that's coming from someone who loves musicals.

It's incredibly obvious. All this recent attention on black lives matters and the LGBT community...and here comes a generic film about the struggles of a black man in the LGBT community.

Was it a bad film? No. Did it deserve to win just because it deals with current social issues? No.

Honestly, that's not exactly what the movie was about. The movie is much deeper than that. And it played a big part in why it won. Were the characters gay? Yes. But it challenges what the gay lifestyle is in every way. It is the least generic film imo.

It was based on a play written by a gay man who mirrored his own upbringing and it was directed by a black man that grew up in the same area and probably experienced some of the same things. I know you're hurt that La La Land lost but I don't get why you're so against this movie.

I would have been happy if any other film won. Obviously La La Land is an artistic masterpiece, winning Oscars for best director, actress, production design, cinematography, and original score and song, but for Moonlight to win best picture simply because it "controversially" deals with a gay black guy? I get that this film might be more relatable to you, but La La Land was the better film.

Shipper

Was it Steve Harvey the one who announced it? Are they trying to pull a 2016 Ms. Universe fiasco to get ratings or is it really a mistake?
