You then started to tell me that weed is illegal so that black and latino men can be sent to prison, which I stated is not true in the case of my country as most of the drug dealers here are white and it's more uncommon that a black person would be sent to jail for such crimes. You then started to attack my country for no apparent reason. If you learned to listen and respond in a calm manner I would have done so also, but since you showed reluctance to do that I have remained totally unresponsive and have quite frankly enjoyed getting under your skin because of your rudeness and arrogance. Yup, I'm def being "rude" to enlighten you about the racist roots of cannabis criminalization in the United States (the country of question) that you had no knowledge of. Because it's their job? Because they're elected? The conversation about legalising drugs has been happening for many years and even though it would arguably benefit the government to legalise them (or at least some of them), their better judgement is telling them not to. I voted for my government because I have faith in their ability to make decisions and by consequence I have faith in their decisions. I am not an expert on drugs, neither are any of you presumably, but I have been deeply effected by them and my life experience has made me more inclined to be against drugs all together, which perhaps clouds my opinion somewhat. Nicole 1,809 Posted February 24, 2017 Share Posted February 24, 2017 The global war on drugs has caused drug prohibition to increase, drug consumption to increase, the number of different types of drugs increased, drugs became easier to obtain and has caused adverse consequences including increased deaths, crime, corruption, prison population and wasteful government expenditure to increase. Trump is wasting his time. If the interest is supposed to be in favour of the people, marijuana (and all drugs, might I add - but that's for another discussion), needs to be decriminalised. I have a friend whose life is centered around weed, and it's kinda messing his academics up. But I've seen MUCH more lives ruined by either cigs or alcohol (family and friends), so if the White House wants to interfere with marijuana use, do it alongside other legal but harmful substances as well EDIT: And in the case of alcohol and cigs, why not limit their use severely (I think we should ban cigs completely) since they offer no tangible benefit as far as I know, unlike medical marijuana.
