Actually the border patrol has an official name known as CBP. They're also, hiring. So, if I'm guessing they have the same standards as anyone else, you probably have to take a lot of tests and be in utmost physical condition in order to be a part of the CBP. Not to mention, in combination with the fact it's a job probably no one wants to do, especially now, and the CBP has other priorities. But someone said the wall is just symbolic.. if it is then it's still going to let illegal immigrants pass, especially if like you said there's no much control on the border. All those points you described ought to be focused on legal immigrants, you know, all those people who did the hard work and time to get naturalized like my parents did. And I know of plenty of legal immigrants who became citizens that contribute to society in jobs and the like. If we go through the amnesty route, illegal immigrants ought to at least pay a fine and get naturalized somehow so they can pay taxes as citizens do and employers can be stopped from exploiting them, giving them below minimum wage. They also aren't protected by employment protection laws. And let us not forget voting fraud and other types of fraud when these people are used. So I don't understand why Democracts or "the Left" ignore the illegal issue and paint this as some racial or solely immigrant issue, when they ought to offer solutions to end the problem altogether. The solution is to offer as many of them citizenship as possible Obama tried to get like 6 million of them legal citizenship but Republicans blocked this with all they could (and this was before the Trump era). The fact that they entered the country illegally is indeed a crime, but it shouldn't be. To prevent people from doing this they should let more people in legally. A lot of these people cross over because the situation in their country is dire. Many work in the US to send money to their families in their countries. The US system is broken. These people don't have time to wait 10 years to become legal (or however long it takes).

Let us say that you were going to a Lady Gaga concert and paid good money to get in with your friends, but when you get to your seats, you find someone has taken them who after investigation sneaked in and didn't even pay to get in. Would it be fair to you, a paying customer, to have someone like that stay without consequences? And them paying a fee is much lighter than kicking them out, right? I'm starting to get confused The wall isn't symbolic. That giant orange idiot seems intent on building it. He just doesn't realize he's going to be out of office by the time it starts. Plus, like I said, BCP is more than just border patrol. The thing is, even if we do build it, get better guards, people will still want in. Mexico is a plenty shitty place, and if I remember correctly, so is a lot of South America, as some countries down there are collapsing on on themselves. Well I guess from everything I've read in this thread the situation is Mexicans are fleeing their country and entering illegally because it takes a lot of time; and their presence is essential to the US because they do jobs that americans wont do; but still the government won't grant them citizenship. I'm guessing Trump doesn't want them in because of the stereotypes this kid has stated? what a messy situation. 5 minutes ago, Shadow said: They would at least need to pay a fine, since all legal immigrants had to naturalize through the same system. Not a loaded pretense, if someone got in without paying and took your seat as they would have taken another paying customer's seat, would that be okay with you? This issue isn't who they are to generalize but what they did. Anyone can break the law, but the law still applies to them. It doesn't matter who is steals, but it matters thieves stole something. We need to get passed the trigger words and deal with these issues practically and logically. Or we'll have 9 year olds spinning our heads around and end up getting nowhere. Well, go look at what it takes to be accepted as an immigrant to Canada (and we are known as an immigration-friendly nation).
