Right? It's like Gaga gave a second chance to us teenage monsters to know what it was like to be a stan in 2010. And it's amazing.

Sunday was just proof of how deep the love for her monsters really runs. The bond between gaga and her monsters is ****ing unbreakable.

I love you monsters. I'd be unfixably broken without you

What I freaking love was that she passed up a great opportunity to snatch the entire GP by the wigs.

BUT. instead she used that opportunity to be dedicated to US. Did you see all the references she had in that performance that only us will get? That entire performance was not a tribute to her career but to her fans. Which other artist can say that?

As a bonus she achieved acclaim while doing it for her fans. I was so freaking impressed because then people realised that she is FOR REAL when she said she loves her fans.

Exactly. I had a horrible cold but I still had monsters come over and watch the game with me. Lol I just handed out hand sanitizer and disposable surgical masks lol. My monster friends and I literally screamed "omg she's bring back the disco stick!!!!!!" and my gf was just like "wtf is a disco stick?!?". Lol she's a Katy Perry fan so she gets a pass lol. Deep down gaga will always secretly be "mama monster". I still think "come to mama" is about her role as mama monster. Like you said, she could've just done something to appeal to the GP but she wanted to do something special for us because she was there when we needed her and we were there when she needed us. Theres a video on her Twitter account that Pepsi had posted of some "unseen footage" and during the press conference she said "everything I do is for my fans". Which reminded me of an old quote of hers : "people always say 'oh you always talk about your fans' but how can I not? They're my reason for everything. They're the blood in my veins". Yeah she hasn't changed one bit ♥️

I would compare this to the late 2009/2010 level of popularity honestly, where it's almost all positive reactions!

I wouldn't compare this to the BTW era where it got all divided and she was overexposed and the GP stopped caring. This is the opposite of that.

Yeah, this was pretty much being a Gaga fan in 2009-2011. It's nice to see people appreciating her again. I doubt it'll last long, but damn, it's been a while since she's gotten such a positive public reception.

I just don't understand why the general reaction to Gaga is lukewarm these days unless she does something that commands attention like the Super Bowl or Oscars

Judas Society

I wasn't around during TFM but I was only really a fan after BTW came out and BTW was a very polarizing era where people started calling her satanic or crazy or wacky etc. So I've gotten used to her being criticized constantly. This is probably the most praise I've seen for a performance of her own body of work (I think she got more praise for The Sound of Music tribute and National Anthem).

But I've also seen so many criticize her for her lack of political statement in her SBHT. Not just from the Beyhives but from many publications as well. Basically those were the same people who praised Beyonce's BP tribute in last year's SBHT.

Even if she had flawlessly gave a protest in her own subtle ways, much like how the past greats protest with their music. I mean, the song that Gaga opened with, This Land Is Your Land is a protest song used in multiple prominent protests over the years. (read about the song here)

So you can't really say it's not a protest. Trust me, if other artists did this, the press would praise them to the heavens and back. But when it comes to Gaga, as usual, they put her in a standard unlike any other. That's why, let's not be comfortable in the amount of praise Gaga is getting coz the press will always find fault in whatever she does. Also, well, because Gaga's a rebel and she will always give them something to talk about.
