American christians poisoned the mind of some African countries like Uganda to "kill the gays" as well. Don't act like christians are some kind of saints. Muslims in the USA don't hurt the LGBT, even if they don't agree with it, much like christians.

At the end of the day, when state and religion aren't separated, gays will be killed. The main reason it doesn't happen in developped countries is because religion is not taken as law. In these underdevelopped countries, they have much to come through as a society to ban these insane laws, and that's why religious ill-minded people take advantage of it (christians in Uganda, muslims in the middle east...). Any blind following of ideology is easy to be taken advantage of, if you corrupt the top end (their leaders/lawmakers).

Decent atheists (like myself, I'd like to believe) will stand up for freedom of religion. We believe everyone has the right to follow a religion or not, as long as it doesn't hurt other people.

Yes, we think the actual narrative of all religions is bullsh*t, but we support any good teachings and morals that come out of them. Religion brings destruction to some people, yes, but it also brings happiness to so many other people.

At the end of the day, there is good and bad people everywhere, no matter the religion. And we will support anyone who does good, even if they are religious.

I don't agree on your opinion of a "decent" atheist. Religions like Buddhism, for example, are harmless.. bullsh*t, but harmless, as it teaches a way of good morality.

Christianity and Islam on the other hand, contain broadly violent texts, which cannot be edited, open for distortion and manipulation. Christianity may be at a good place now, but because of its text, who's to say later down along the line it won't be used for more violent acts, even in Western society?

You cannot use the good of Christianity and Islam to excuse the immense atrocities they have done the past 2000 years, and are still doing to this day. The systems simply do not work towards peace, and will likely never work towards peace. Even if they do work briefly, there will always be the threat of them falling towards violence again in times of hardship.

Islam will never represent gays, lol. The Qu'ran's text calls for death of homosexuals by throwing off of buildings. A study was done and 52% of British Muslims believe homosexuality should be illegal. Islam does call for peace, but it also calls for violence.

The text of the Quran is immensely contradictory, thus making it vulnerable for application to corrupt political agendas and the destruction of secular society.

Personally, I'm anti any religion. It is simply regressive and not the way forward. The world needs to realize this before it's too late, but I don't think it will.

Ban muslims from entering the country, you will piss off a lot of them and experience homegrown radicalization. Let too many muslims into the country, we are bound to experience acts of terror too. We're ****ed from both angles.

I mean, the Bible is just as tragic and problematic, but people have been able to make their respective religions accommodate to modern society. I believe that many younger Muslims are a lot better at doing this than younger Christians, since being Muslim basically makes you an underrepresented and misrepresented minority in America just as much as any other minorities like it

I just can't agree with you when you say "Islam will never represent gays." I get if you're anti-religion but that should not make you create these biases towards religions. Why don't you say that Christianity will never represent gays? In some ways, Christianity has become more representative of gays. Probably not fully in some regions, but you should not place blame on the religion and instead look to the practitioners of religion to see what they are really like. Of course there's going to be some Christians, Muslims, Jews, Buddhists, etc who do not approve of gays or other peoples or ideals because they say they are corrupt or corrupted. However, those are mostly the older generations, and the younger generation is more accepting

And, as for your last statement, we do not need to ban Muslims from entering our country. We need to ban people who think that we need to ban Muslims from entering our country. Islam is not the issue. The issue at hand is marginalization and a lack of opportunity. If that wasn't the case, Muslims and other individuals would not feel so targeted or as social outcasts. There is a lot that you need to understand about Islam, religion, and terrorism. All it takes is actual learning and not biased beliefs or representations

Buddhism has caused a lot of violence throughout Asia over the times. It might be "against their teachings", and it might not be "the popular one" right now, but it does suffer from the same problems and drawbacks as other religions. Fanatism is never a good thing, and every religion (even atheism) turns bad when fanatism arises.

If you read closely, I wasn't trying to justify these religions' narratives at all. All I'm saying is that everyone should have the right to follow a religion, as long as it doesn't hurt anyone else. Religious text shouldn't be taken 100% literally because it was written by men, not their god(s). Bad people will take the more violent texts and promote them in the literal sense, instead of reading into the lessons they are trying to teach. Good people know that they should subscribe to the texts that promote goodness and kindness, and not to the ones that promote violence towards themselves and others.

And there is a really huge amount of good religious people out there, but of course the few bad ones will always stand out. It's our job as rational humans to distinguish bad people from bad ideologies, and not damnify a whole group of people based on the actions of a few individuals. As LGBT, we should be familiar with acceptance, tolerance, and respect towards others, not generalizing individual actions just because they came from one person among a whole group of people.

In the end, I agree with any person chosing to follow any religion they want, as long as they use it for their own self-improvement, and not as a tool to manipulate and hurt the others around them.

Buddhism has quite the history of violence associated with it. Myanmar anyone?

Blaming violence on religion alone is idiotic. Humans are violent; religion is just an excuse to commit it.
