Trump is right. These Australian refugees are Australia's problem.

They are human beings who lost everything in war (war in which both American and Australian army is involved, among others); they are not "a problem", just a number, "illegal immigrants" nor "next Boston bombers". The way he's dehumanizing them is disgusting, so no, he's not right.

If you are worrying about American taxpayer, complain about billions of millitary aid given to certain regimes.

As an Australian I think the refugees should be settled in Australia anyway
America's loss as far as I'm concerned.

Absolutely disrespectful of Trump though and totally unacceptable.

Trump is right. These Australian refugees are Australia's problem. It has nothing to do with the American taxpayer. So typical of Australia to pay someone else to fix our problem. These refugees need to be resettled in Australia and that is the end of that.

While I actually agree that Australia should take these refugees, the issue is a little more complicated. The refugee crisis is a world problem.

Australia is currently accepting refugees at a rate so high, it's comparable to the end of WWII. These refugees are coming by boat, it's very dangerous and lives have been lost.

Now, while I think Australia can actually do more and has a duty to do more, Australia can't accept the 'burden' of all of the people seeking asylum and fleeing from countries such as Iraq and Syria. This is a world issue, and each nation has it's part to play - some countries can also obviously do more than others.

When comparing refugee intake:

U.S takes 85,000.
Australia takes 25,750.

While the U.S clearly takes more, when we compare the populations of each countries you can see a vast difference.

U.S 318.9 million population
Australia 23.13 million population

Australia is accepting the equivalent of 0.001% of it's population
The U.S accepts the equivalent of 0.0002% of it's population

It's not so outrageous to say that the U.S can do a little more - a deal like the one proposed under Obama would allow the U.S to take a greater share while alleviating the perceived burden on Australia.

There is something to be said about sharing responsibility and countries all pulling their weight to deal with this refugee crisis. Like I said, I think Australia can do more - But the U.S can as well, and they can do a lot more than a country like Australia.

Trump is just saying that because they sought asylum in Australia therefore it is Australia's obligation to offer them sanctuary. Sheesh!

Well that is two issues. I agree that (1) USA should take a higher proportion of refugees. But at the same time, (2) Australia should not just pay another country to do what we can easily do (and should do)

So sick of Australia outsourcing all our jobs (manufacturing, agriculture, call centres, and now refugee resettling) overseas
