We would have had Trump no matter what. The Democrats choose the person they wanted by an overwhelming majority. There is absolutely no doubt that the Republicans and Trump would have relentlessly attacked Bernie for being a socialist. The polling data we have was when Bernie had been treated with kid gloves by Hillary and the Republicans, as he wasn't going to be able to catch up to win the nomination. If he would have been a threat, both groups would have brought out all the attacks, from socialism to his rape fantasies to him being agnostic to him not having a real job until he was in his late thirties to him being a deadbeat dad to his wife screwing over a college to.... The Republicans and Trump would have been showing everyone pictures of Venezuela and Trump would have been threatening that we were all going to be in food lines. Don't think so, unless it was a moderate who was a celebrity, and that isn't a guarantee. Plus, it is extremely difficult for the same party to hold the top office for more than eight years. People naturally go towards change...except for Republicans who show up to vote for Republicans no matter what they have done or who they are.
