I think G.U.Y. fully deserves it’s spot, it’s a total bop, the Greek influence makes it belong on ARTPOP and it’s one of Gaga’s best music videos to date, y’all will DEAL. -----◆----- Top 5 Comments: “Easily the best song of the album. The heavy electronic production is perfect and meticulous (how amazingly fitting is the clapping sound throughout the song?); lyrics are great, even though the chorus could’ve been more daring. However, what makes G.U.Y. stand out are the spoken parts: both the sensual intro, the screamed outro, and most importantly the outstanding bridge interlude – something I really can’t picture in any song but a Gaga one.” - @ArtPLAUSE “This song is the reason why I became a Zedd stan, the production is out of this world and it goes well with Gaga's vocals and the robotic voice as well. Needless to say that the music video is on the level of Bad Romance. Fun fact: in the beginning the robotic voice says "Lay back, and feast as this audio guides you through new and exciting positions" and in the music video at 2:20 right when the bridge starts, Gaga does all the known sex positions.” - @FlopSlurper “An electroclash record that served as Gaga's first official flop, it's no wonder the public wasn't so taken with this one; as much as I enjoy this song and never feel the need to skip it, the instrumental is just so abrasive! Zedd could've toned it down a bit and let Gaga's vocals do more of the work, because the two seem to be at odds with one another several times through-out this song. It's still a banger, and amazing live, but it isn't the best song on this record.” - @jujubae “Another massive dance song on ARTPOP however it fails to be a standout in my opinion. First of all Lyrically it is very clever transforming being the submissive one in a relationship from being oppressed to being empowered. This lyrics are extremely clever and a lot of fun in my opinion. Melodically it is also very good with the hook being amazingly danceable, what causes the downfall of this song and causes it no to be a real highlight from the album is in my opinion its production. Whilst in previous gaga songs it is undeniable the production of the song is a bit cluttered this takes it to whole new levels. Every second of the song is an assault to the senses with every single sound imaginable being thrown to the listener. I find it terribly distracting, Zedd really pushed the envelope with this one and it falls flat. In conclusion I find it to be a bit of a missed opportunity, a very catchy chorus, interesting lyrics however it shoots itself in the foot with the production and it doesn’t surprise me that it didn’t have much success on the charts. What stops me from giving it a lower rating is simply the fact that I have a real soft spot for the hook which I can spend humming for days on end.” - @Robagaga “I'll start with the music video, which is one of her most underrated pieces of work. Its references of Greek Mythology is brilliant. I've always loved the imagery, visuals, and aesthetics of Greek Mythology. Moving on to the song itself, dazzling beats of electronica as Gaga sings about getting in control. The meaning of the song is genius. When first listening to the album, "G.U.Y." was my favorite.” - @KinneyUnderYou -----◆----- Who Did It First?
