Dorothy Gale 7,575
I don't get the monsters that don't like Joanne music/era/visuals because of how different it is for Gaga. 2011 Gaga was largely unrecognizable in style and sound from her debut album The Fame and the ARTPOP and Cheek to Cheek eras were sonically on opposite ends of the musical spectrum. Gaga's progression to her current aesthetic and sound really shouldn't be a surprise since she's changed her image up so many times in her relatively short career. DaftFameMonster 2,527
I suppose it's more difficult for long time stans. I was always a casual fan up until late 2015 so Joanne's style didn't bother me one bit. Saying that though.. Shouldn't long term fans be used to her evolution by now? sipthistea 21,099
I don't find Joanne a change that much. We've seen Gaga performing at the Lower East Side with that rockish style in some videos pre-Fame. I think it was a perfect time to rescue that before it was too late. It's kind of the heart of her artistry. I can understand some people don't get it because of the latest works, which were predominantly dancepop / electropop songs. But, if you ask me, I prefer an artist who is always pushing boundaries and experimenting with new sounds. Kind of eclectic.
Nirvana 2,712
They just like to complain... I'd rather want a fave that is always changing and not afraid to, than doing the exact same thing over and over... If I am not wrong, I remember people complaining about BTW album too, and now it's this site's fav album by Gaga.
He8MyHeart 9,765
It's a big change for me personally as I enjoyed the fashion, theatrics and conceptual performances/music of the previous eras. This era is more 'real life'. Not that that's a bad thing at all.
ArtGagaPop 61,940
I love the album. MR, DH, DIC, A-YO, PI, Angel down, Joanne, almost the whole album is some of the best songs she has done The only thing i am slightly dissapointed with is the music videos but i got over that after the first day of PI video. Everything else slays this era!
FGGrayson 9,670
im not mad about the fact that she's changing, it's just the sound she chosed it's not like anything i usually hear so.. when your fave goes with the genre u like the less of course u're gonna be pissed, and about the videos she use to make great videos, just like some legends like Bjork, Fiona Apple, etc.. it's a shame that she went from having one of the most iconic videography on pop culture to make cheap/uninspired videos, but oh well, if yall like it, its ok 𝗟𝗮𝗱𝘆 𝗚𝗮𝗴𝗮 • 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘆 𝗠𝗼𝗼𝗿𝗲 • 𝗦𝗼𝗽𝗵𝗶𝗲-𝗘𝗹𝗹𝗶𝘀 𝗕𝗲𝘅𝘁𝗼𝗿 • 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘀 𝗝𝗮𝗰𝗸𝘀𝗼𝗻
SpookyKid 15,153
As long as she's making quality music, I don't care about the genre or the looks Life has a hopeful undertone |-/
DeleteMyAccount 11,881
Tbh she'd probably have less fans if she kept up with BTW/ARTPOP. Change is good. And it doesn't mean she won't ever go back to similar visuals/music.
RochestrMonstr 3,216
I think Joanne is beautiful. It connects to me possibly more than any other album I've ever heard. It certainly is more my style of music than her previous work. I've never truly liked EDM as a whole, but I love Gaga's because she always still had beautiful melodies and meanings (which are the most important parts of a song for me). It wasn't just some crappy repetitive beat like a lot of other EDM. That, mixed with her personality and talent, has made me a Stan since 2009. I do understand why people who preferred her EDM music would be disappointed. I also understand some people miss her wacky outfits/visuals. Everyone likes something different. I don't, however, understand the anti-Joanne trolls. Yes, you're entitled to not like Joanne. You're entitled to hate it. But why lurk around and post nasty messages multiple times a day? A couple comments about your negative opinion is completely understandable. But some people literally seem to go out of their way to bash Joanne. Isn't that a waste of your time? Like doesn't it get boring? Why not go post somewhere about something you DO like, rather than trying to spread negativity?
merlot 5,772
the reason i fell in love with gaga in the first place was how different she was from all the artists i felt like i could relate to her in so many ways, but now it's like she's done with being with all of that and i don't see that joanne is as innovative/creative as her other albums i still think joanne is a decent album but maybe it would've been better if it was an EP/side album ? Blueskye 1,087
If Joanne (and ARTPOP) was a smash hit, we wouldn't have threads like this #ficklefans
Edge Of Venus 731
Her image, performances and visuals for The Fame ~ Born This Way were completely outside the box and very UNIQUE. ARTPOP was also very outlandish but executed poorly. How the HELL is Joanne similar when she's mostly wearing torn t-shirts denim shorts and a damn pink hat singing a cute vanilla ballad and making forgettable music videos. Not today Satan, not today. Poker 3,713
It's not about the evolution, it about the lack of stuff. She hasn't done anything (except for the SB). Kindness rules all.
