Like, why? Once you become a US citizen you should be treated as one. Also: it doesn't solve the problem. You're just throwing a part of the problem over the hedge and staying in your own backyard without ever talking to your neighbours.

Well firstly, it spreads misinformation and suspicion towards immigrants when multiple studies have shown they are less likely to commit crimes than people born in the U.S:

But nobody is publicising or publishing a list of all the crimes committed by natural born citizens.


Of course some immigrants are going to break the law  but lists like these are being used to push a certain political agenda. That's the whole reason for them. It's being used to demonize immigrants as if they pose a threat to Americans when statistically they pose less of a threat then your next door neighbour who was born in the U.S.

If you want to argue that immigrants who break the law should be deported, I think we would have some disagreements, but to me that's a separate issue. Why publicise it? It's because they want to make Americans believe that immigrants are criminals and that they pose a threat to society.

That's the issue. The vague wording leaves room for many interpretations that are far from justice.
