Green Detox 2,779
Thank you for your tips guys, so I'll tell about my musical background, it was back in 5th grade and i was 10 years old when my school discovered my singing talent, then they made me the participant of the school for local competitions, it was really fun, and then I've written songs since then, but the funny thing is that i dont know how to play a single instrument, so i wrote songs by humming, I've used that method over and over again, and as of now i've written 40 songs using it, but this summer i would be taking my piano and guitar lessons to sharpen my writing skills, and as of for my singing, i think i could teach myself regarding it
Green Detox 2,779
And as of my eagerness to move to new york, you know i live in a third world country, and there's nothing for me here no matter how i use our modern technological advances, so i better get a good look baby cuz soon I'm breaking out of here, and i know Iiving in the states would be more convenient for a dream like mine, and I've been mastering Gaga's discovery for Years now, on how she was signed, and i figured out some kind of a short cut, i know what I'm doing and I'm pretty confident about this plan

Hunny let me be honest with you as well it's a bit delusional if you go to nyc straight ahead and bam you have a record deal but it's so much more than that you have to learn the ropes in the music scene what to do and what not to do and people that you should be surrounded with and 2k usd isn't enough for everything in nyc plus there's an interview that comes with that too and you have to pay $400 dollars per interview and if you fail you'll have to go back by next year and pay $400 again I'm sorry if this sounds hard but it's really best that you stay where you are and study locally and claw your way into success plus America is probably gonna be really tight with immigrants now.

ooo 407
don't move to NYC while donald trump is president. seriously. stay safe and take the advice of the ppl in this thread that have lived in NYC & the ppl from your country who are telling you to stay. look my dream my whole life was to move to NYC & become a famous mixed media artist. and it almost happened and i was crushed! and i learned alot, that NYC isn't my only dream and it was a bit delusional of me at the time (no money). but you should stay safe & thrive in a community you are already used to. other ppl have become famous musical artists out of the philippines. what i am mostly trying to get across is that donald trump is very dangerous. he has already started implemmenting things that hitler did in wwII. don't come to NYC to live while he is president. a huge amount of raised taxed dollars are being used to house his wife and son in the city (instead of in the white house where there is room for them to stay comfortably) and who is paying those tax dollars? inhabitants of the city.  stay safe, don't come to america while he is in power. ooo 407
edit: my bf is a video producer in the industry in america. he shoots music videos for famous artists (yo gotti is most recent) & his own short films. he took online corses on youtube & learned how to make it big on youtube. seriously professional information. he learned so much & its still on youtube (creators academy). you can learn how to market your videos, which audiences your videos will reach, how to gain followers. youtube is huge & i know a lot of different people who now create content out of youtube studios & got moderately famous too. Easy 5,306
So you are not even 18 and you want to move to NYC alone on a budget of $2000? That's pretty impossible. I am from Hong Kong, the GDP/income/finance stuff are basically quite similar to NYC so I know how it feels like to live in one of these expensive cities. $2000 can't even sustain your life for a month. I think unless you can get more money, don't even think moving to cities like that. Look at RedOne, I read that he basically put his house on mortgage and moved to NYC then he nearly became broke before making something commercially successful. I don't know a whole lot about The Philippines but I know there are quite some good singers. If you can win some competitions, your skills won't be too bad. However it's not just singing skills that make you survive in the music industry. My brother works for one of the highest earning/acclaimed music producers in the Chinese speaking society and has worked with various top Chinese and Korean acts. These people have so much more than just singing skills. I'm not trying to be offensive but are you as good as the other people? Do you have the whole "package"? Since you are young and determined to leave your country, I think there are better ways to work your way up. These ways are more feasible imo. For example, I have a friend who I met in a music event, who he also came from The Philippines, he currently works at Hong Kong Disneyland and performs in one of the musical live shows there. He is getting paid regularly, gets housing and all the benefits. He gets to perform and sharpen his weapons while getting paid. With that money, he is making music and putting on YouTube, saving some money to make music or buy instruments etc. Not saying that you should come to Hong Kong, but since you are young and still have time to work your way up, I think auditioning for Disneylands in Hong Kong or Japan could really be a way out for you. I hope you can be a star someday. But with that limited budget which you didn't even earn it yourself, NYC may not be the perfect place for you. I think it's really important to build your own empire. That way, all the hard work will be your very own experiences, these exp can be useful in your future songwriting etc.

You know when it was officially announced that Trump is the elected presented i literally broke down, but my plan to move there is by 2020 anyway, and hopefully after his presidency has ended he will not get a second turn anymore, i think his age would be a huge factor regarding it anyway, so yes i'm fully aware of his danger, thank you by the way, oh this made me sad again for that country

JTandTheHair 351
You're going to need more than $2000 to move to NYC. I live in the states and it was even hard for me to move here. Getting an apartment isn't as easy as it sounds. You'll probably need good credit, first and last months rent, a guarantor, or luck. I am in New York to do music as well and I actually spend most of my time working at a restaurant. You really need to hustle. It's draining. Make sure it's really what you want before you leave your life behind. Also, the music industry is much different now than when gaga started. So her pathway might not provide the same results in 2017. Consider this heavily. Use the internet and YouTube before you decide to ditch your life. Practice, write, and build passion. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCVDKtqAUGArOY2-irseRzvQ
