Gaga better performer than Beyonce

I think Gaga is a more emotive and expressive singer, but Beyonce is technically just more on point and accurate (and her music imo utilizes her range way better, but that's just a gripe I have with Gaga and part of why I loved C2C so much :gum: ) Beyonce also has the unfortunate trouble of just having a not very unique timbre to her voice, especially her upper range. It's very... characteristic. She doesn't utilize many different tone colors in her singing, though she does have a way better way of affecting her actual speaking voice while she sings? Like, she can sound I guess more "hood" or "ratchet", then angelic in a second. I think her changes are more obvious, meanwhile Gaga's are subtle. Gaga used to kind of experiment with this more during TF---BTW and a little on ARTPOP, but I honestly feel like Joanne is more of her default voice, with maybe a little bit of a twang occassionally. C2C was also great for this, esp. with the different styles of jazz singing she would imitate, not to mention the different language vocals occassionally.

Enough about that.

As far as sheer entertainment, Gaga gets me in the theatricality and artsy factor (at least in previous eras) and Beyonce gets me in terms of like, grandeur. Things are very dramatic and elaborate and productions are large, meticulously crafted, and perfectly executed, from the sets, the lighting, the atmosphere, the clothes, the dancing, and the singing.

Gagas performance is in general less polished, which can be good and bad, and she goes from having great vocals to having kind of mediocre vocals. Beyonce keeps her voice in pristine shape and does not have very many noticable unhealthy singing habits (or even any that I can think of, but to be fair, I don't stan Beyonce so I don't know her performance history the way I know Gaga's).

I do think Beyonce is a more objectively (on the grounds of precision, accuracy, technique, overall effectiveness, etc.) talented performer, but I totally understand why people may think Gaga is a better performer. Her performance is moer personal.

They're way too different to compare. Gaga's performances are (were :gaycat:) very theatrical. You could really tell she had a background in theater. Whereas Beyoncé is a much more choreographed and polished performer.

Could Beyoncé ever pull off a performance like this?

And could Gaga ever pull off a performance like this?

They're both amazing performers but just in different ways.

I've seen both live and much prefer Gaga. One reason being that she interacts with the crowd when she performs. When I saw Beyonce on tour, I felt disconnected from her, like I was just viewing and not fully involved. I feel the complete opposite when I see Gaga live.

Gaga perfectly sings live and never lip syncs (!!!), perfectly plays the piano and other instruments, can dance, excessively interacts with her audience, uses theatrics and has major stage presence.

Every performance feels different and it's not the same thing over and over and over again.

All of the above are just some of the many reasons why Gaga is the better performer.

Both are 2 of the best performers of our time but when you have to compare, Gaga is undeniably superiour.

Off topic, but I was waiting for All Night. Like at the end I was on the edge, my body ready for All Night, and then it just never comes.

I just watched the Monster Ball at Madison Square Garden Blu-ray again. When I think about it, perfect dance choreography isn't really that important to me. What really makes me a fan (in addition to the music itself and her vocal abilities), is how charming and funny she is when she tells stories or is acting. Like when she sits in front of the piano and tells about her drama teachers etc., or when she says she's like Tinkerbell, and will die if she doesn't get applause. :) That's also a part of her performance.

To repeat a couple of comparisons from earlier in the thread, if Beyonce is like Michael Jackson, Lady Gaga is more like Freddie Mercury (with some MJ thrown in too).

Beyoncé is always super powerful, energetic, dedicated and fierce. She's certainly one of the world's best, but I do find her pretty predictable. I personally prefer Gaga because she's more interesting, unpredictable and versatile.

I agree!  I honestly prefer the theatrics over the predictable million dancers behind her that she(Beyoncé) is known to do sometimes...  :giggle:

I am genuinely surprised by the honest respect and credit that is being given to beyonce in this thread! not too often the name goes without such harsh immediate response, as beyonce is clearly a "threat" to gaga's level of talent as well as fame and cultural relevance.

OT: Beyonce is sharper, cleaner, more precise, and in some ways objectively better, in all aspects. from visuals, vocals, choreography, styling (as per related to the Joanne era). However Gaga is incredibly more dimensional as a performer. She is more spontaneous, more involved with the production of the performance, as well as the audience. This means she has the freedom to act and interact in a performance differently from how she ever has before, but also the chance of messing up with a prop, an idea, a solo, or a visual. Luckily for us, she delivers. (sometimes, citing joanne and most of ARTPOP, sorry haters)

This is the primary difference between the two. What you see in a beyonce performance is what you get. tireless performance, mastered live vocals and choregoraphy, etc. which is incredible. Yet in a gaga performance, what you see is a complex story told by that artist themselves. This can be met with confusion because complexity is less palatable for an audience, however, Gaga recreates a story, and pushes herself to give that vision to a live audience in a way that no pop contemporary can challenge.

they are very different.

Beyonce is technically great, both vocally and dancing. she gives you perfection and strives for perfection herself too which is at times boring to me. she focuses too much on the technicalities.

but Gaga gives you spontaneity, has a sense of humour in her performances and just gets it.

Beyonce tries to paint a perfect apple but gaga presents a different type of apple every time and makes you look forward to the next one.

The way I see it is Beyonce uses her brain and body to perform while gaga uses her heart and soul.

I'm not saying who is better than the other but I prefer Gaga personally.

Some of y'all are delusional. If we are talking about currently, Beyonce is a better performer. Back when Gaga was at the top of the game it was tough competition, but know Bey is clearly better. Don't get me wrong I love Gaga's performances but since 2015 I as well as many other people have been more excited and entertained for beys performance.

honestly beyonce can only do one type of performance. stereotypically "fierce" dance moves, lots of runs in her singing, very showboat-y and very typically pop. its the only form people can understand, so they praise her to the high heavens. but can she do what gaga did at the sound of music tribute? no. or what gaga did at the frank sinatra tribute? no. or her transportive rendition of whats up by 4 non blondes, where she accurately depicts the freedom of the 60s better than the original song itself? no. and thats why i feel gaga is a better performer. not because she always gets it right, lol, or because she never takes it too camp which she can, but because when she gets it right, she completely embodies and transforms.
